I didn't transcribe this myself. Honestly. Obviously it's going to have more on an emphasis on different kinds of rock music but it's still probably not a bad alternative to the Grammy nominations and so on. And yeah I haven't heard of at least a third of the bands either.
Death Cab For Cutie on number 50... Did they listen to too much commercial heavy metal and are they now half deaf? Oh, wait, yeah, that's exactly what they did because Slipknot's on number 2.
I don't really get all the praise Slipknot's album has got, and Death Cab's album is definitely better, but I don't think either is that great. By extension most of the albums above the latter that I've heard are better, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure only four or five of them are "commercial" metal, though.
wow i was gonna check some of their albums out and what not... but than i noticed coldplay was not included on the list... which means chances are their taste is way far from mine... coldplay not making top 75 is insane....
Lol in my opinion (with a few exceptions) that list got progressively worse. And seriously, what's the deal with Coldplay? They've never been that great at all (imo). Also, the list has a noticeable lack of Cynic. Considering they had Opeth and a few other pretty interesting heavy bands, they couldn't NOT include Cynic.
Aside from the BMTH and Slipknot albums (which are pretty average for the most part in my opinion) being in the top 10 I don't think I'd disagree with it too much, at least as far as the albums on the list I've heard are concerned. I think I'd put Weezer, Johnny Truant, Rolo Tomassi, Kids In Glass Houses and Rise Against a lot higher, and Ace Enders, City and Colour and Black Lungs would have figured somewhere as well. Barnes: I don't think they tend to cover Coldplay, so it was pretty unlikely that the writers would include their album.
The only real good albums I see in the second half of the list (that i listened to) are Opeth, This Will Destroy You and Alkaline Trio's efforts. The Bronx was probably pretty good too, but i haven't listened to that yet. Whereas the first half has a ton of good stuff.
If you like The Bronx it'll probably be worth trying Cancer Bats and Fucked Up if you haven't already.
I like Fucked Up. Haven't listened to a full album yet though. And Cancer Bats have been on my 'list of bands to try out' list for ages. I will eventually get around to it though lol.
