SO EXCITED.

 

So apparently there's this game that combines the plot of Romeo & Juliet with that of Hamlet. Jade Tree should start publishing video games for the sole purpose of being able to release it, the concept is that... emo. *washes hands furiously*

I think the emo video game genre started with Final Fantasy VII, or possibly even Final Fantasy VI. The next big landmark was when Big Boss became the gaming equivalent of Chuck Ragan (hairy and manly but also sad and sensitive) in Metal Gear Solid 3.

I should turn this into an article.

 

Raiden really ushered it in to the 21st century, imo.

 

Actually Raiden was supposed to have been depicted as having no emotions. Looking like a woman does not equate to sensitivity, which is something I think a lot of people (especially actual women) should try to take heed of.
