I thought about buying the DVD, but then I saw one of our HD movie channels was airing it one night. And I don't have a blu-ray player, so I got to see it in HD for free. Also, 2 days until I see them live! Fuck yeah.
Wow. I'm at a loss for words right now. Incredible show. More tomorrow after I recover from the brutal moshpit.
Master Shake The Big Ass NIN Logo Justin, Trent & Robin during Echoplex Plano's Faithful Civil Patrol Health reminded me of a slightly softer Boris. Nothing like what I listened to on their MySpace page. Weird. I got my presale ticket as soon as we got there, and promptly posted my ass with all the regular folk/non-"fanclub" people. I eventually went through the presale line when that part of the line was empty. I could have been near the front if I hustled my ass. Oh well. My friends payed $15 for a tour date shirt from some black guy that was sneakily selling shirts in line, and it was the old ones from the Summer leg. hahaha. When I got in, I went straight to the merch table and bought a swank t-shirt with the Slip front album design and the tour dates from THIS leg on the bank. For $35. Shit. Anyway, fucking crazy concert. "March of the Pigs" had an insane moshpit that I got dragged into. Some girl kept dancing up on my right arm/thigh. Maybe it's because I'm fat and can't handle things, but my body was sore as hell last night after the show due to the pit I was infront of. They tossed people into my shoulders and lower back like it was nothing. And to top it off, I somehow came down with a cold, despite it not even being close to cold outside last night. Oh, and for being a no smoking venue (apparently), there was alot of cigarettes being lit up, and pot as well, some real skunk shit. From my position on the floor (I could have thrown something onto the stage with ease), I only saw maybe 3 crowd surfers. One was right infront of me to my right, and everyone that was holding him threw him to the left and no one caught him. Credit to that guy though, he got right back up and got into a pit. I listened to the Ghosts tracks that were played at the show before last night's, and they don't sound like what was played last night. I wish I knew, though, because the one with Justin on stand up bass is fuckin' groove if I ever heard one. After the show, I walked right past Master Shake and a girl in Plano riot gear on my way out. Even got a picture of Master Shake Guy from a few feet away before Health started up. In closing, fuck the assholes during the Ghosts intermission that kept screaming "this isn't real music" and one guy who kept doing death metal growls. My only real complaint is the redneck fucks and the people who moshed during songs like the Greater Good. Seriously, what the fuck? 999999 1000000 letting you discipline march of the pigs head down the frail / closer gave up the warning the great destroyer ghosts ? ghosts ? ghosts ? ghosts piggy the greater good wish terrible lie survivalism the big comedown only ghosts ? the hand that feeds head like a hole --ENCORE-- echoplex good soldier god given hurt in this twilight
I was talking to Neil about this earlier tonight, but it's only just dawning on me that we're seeing these guys in 10 days. Holy shit.
The build up to the day of the show is unbearable, for me atleast. And the anticipation that day, knowing you're seeing them.. I don't know, I don't think I'd feel that for any other band but Nine Inch Nails. But, that could be because I'm a huge fan, lol.
^ Ooooh, you caught a cold? Poor thing! I really like the setlist! As I've told you, you are veeeeeeeeeeery lucky!!!!!
Jimmy Barnes, (not sure if he's known much in the USA, but he's an Australian rock legend) is going to be releasing a cover of Hurt in about two weeks time. I know this because my Dad is working on a documentary about a drug rehab clinic in Australia, and the CD being released to raise funds for it. Barnes is contributing his cover of Hurt to the album. I've heard an instrumental version of the track, it's rocked up more than the original or Cash's cover, but oddly enough, for a Barnes track, it still has electronic bits and pieces.
Saw NIN last night in Worcester. Deerhunter sucked. Hard. They started off ok, but just...no. The pit didn't even move. It was kinda sad really. Set list: 999,999 1,000,000 Letting You Discipline March of the Pigs Head Down The Frail Closer Gave Up The Warning The Great Destroyer 21 Ghosts III 14 Ghosts II 19 Ghosts III Piggy (Ghosts) The Greater Good Pinion Wish Terrible Lie Survivalism The Big Come Down 31 Ghosts IV Only The Hand That Feeds Head Like a Hole Encore: Echoplex Reptile (w/ Peter fuckin Murphy!) God Given Hurt In This Twilight we were just at the rail the entire time. no one threw shit up during hurt. people were kinda chill during ghosts. and the pit would erupt at the right moments. like, we were fucking programmed lol. trent didn't even really talk. i can't believe i was at the goddamn rail the entire time. the winner of the night was by far, reptile with peter murphy. talk about making it up to MA =D
I would still like to hear from Hahninator about his experience at the Halloween show. We were supposed to meet up but I guess that fell through.
Concert tonight was frigging sick. The visual displays were unbelievable! "In This Twilight", "Echoplex", "Terrible Lie" and "Head Down" were standouts. Boris, however, was just awful. I've never yawned during a concert before this one. 98% of everyone hated them. Ugh.
And the winner of WHO IS THIS YEAR'S DRUMMER FOR NIN goes to... ILAN RUBIN OF LOSTPROPHETS. Discuss. Somewhere, Brian from Dresden Dolls is crying.
he's 20. he's actually only 2 years older than me. and he's quite a cutiepie. good job appeasing to the fangirls, trent. gents, i think trent has hired the new pretty boy. simultaneously, at that comment, allessandro has just started crying
