While I will not go as far as to suggest that it wasn't really commercial planes, or that Bush schemed up 9/11 to go into Iraq (like so many people suggest) I will say that I understand how people could think we were responsible. Think about it, for decades we allowed this country to be consumed by greed, and acted like we were the most powerful nation in the world and that nobody could touch us. We were so confident of this that we ignored hints of 9/11 that were right under our noses. It woke us up and made us realize that maybe we aren't so safe or invincible anymore. We have people out there who geniunly hate us and want us dead. And its policies like the ones McCain is pushing (since they're mostly a continuation of George Bush's policies) that will get us there all over again. People forget that although Clinton wasn't the best president, Bush has helped deteriorate our standing in the world worse than Clinton ever did. If you ask a foreigner why they hate this country they'll almost always blame it on George Bush. Think about that for a moment, and then tell me how John Mccain someone who has admitted himself to voting with Bush 90% of the time would change any of that. If you rabidly support George Bush, how can you expect people to believe you won't be George Bush? Food for thought.
That's nice and all but that is on O'Reilly's Fox site and not on the main Fox one. Whereas on CNN (link) it can be found by following their "Politics" link. On the main Fox site I have yet to casually find the map I saw on O'Reilly's or CNN's sites. Slam O'Reilly, not FoxNews.
Ontheissues.org " We cannot afford isolationism. (Mar 2007) " - Barack Obama" That's pretty much stating that we should continue to kinda-sorta-should-would police the world instead of Iraq? I was watching this on youtube, and as soon as I say McCain get pwned I just had to post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q6WkK9k7Hg Joe The Plumber (aka fake Republican plant) can kiss my ass!
So in principle you should be okay with troops going to Darfur if that's what it takes, except you aren't.
So you're for stopping Genocide as long as it's not us doing it? I'm not saying you are, but the way your post is worded makes it sound like you are. Unfortunately though, that's the overall viewpoint of the US. We're against it, but we're willing to turn a blind eye and/or don't really give a shit.
hm. Reading back on what I said. I meant to say this. I'm against genocide, but we shouldn't send Forceful military Aid. If we had to, We should Ask the UN to send forces there instead.
Take a look at what you're saying here people. To insinuate somehow (based on a single solitary quote) that Obama plans to do absolutely nothing about the genocide in Darfur is quite simply ludricrous. He has mentioned the need to end it numerous times over the course of his campaign, and I believe he even once mentioned it at the presidential debates. What he was likely referring to is just how difficult it is to present a solution to this matter. Do we try to get Darfur to end it in a diplomatic way, or do we parachute in with guns blazing...going on the same reckless idea of "liberation" that got us stuck in Iraq in the first place? Simply put there's no easy way as this issue is one of the most unique issues our generation has encountered in a long time.
Haha, I can't get over how funny this is, John got owned (lack of a better word) so bad and his expression is priceless.
We were talking about maverik. He quoted something that Obama said that said we SHOULD do something in darfur and seemed to be against it.
