Alright, now that it's been leaked for a few days and people have had a chance to listen to it, what do you think?

I think it's decent, but I'm still quite disappointed. The lyrics in some cases are absolutely terrible and while there are some very good songs ("This War Is Ours", "You Are So Beautiful", "It's Just Me"), there's some shocking ones too ("Ashley", "Harder Than You Know").

The only thing really keeping it in my top 10 at the moment are those songs and Brian's solos. Thoughts?

Love the album and I cant get enough of it. Every song has great hooks and stays stuck in my head for awhile. The solos I think are great. This War is Ours (The Guillotine II) is my favorite track on the album.

I listened to a couple of tracks. I haven't actually heard them with their old vocalist so I can't really compare but the new one just has no character, imo. The music itself is good for what it is but they could really do with a Liam Cormier or a Keith Buckley or even an M Shadows.

It seems like that sound is what they were going for. It really reminds me of Atreyus latest effort, which happens to be produced by John Feldmann as well.

I think it's decent. Craig's lyrics are an absolute joke and his vocals are uninspired.

The only thing I like about the record is the instrumentation, really.

It reminds me of the last The Used album. I think Feldmann has gotten in the habit of sucking the emotion out of bands that feed off of emotion. It's like he tells them, "Hey, why don't we make it sound like you guys don't give a shit about the songs! And then we'll throw in some jazzy number towards the end of the album and call it a day."

Daniel: It's funny, but I actually think "Ashley" is the second best song on the album while "This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II)" is by far the best. "Ashley" reminds me a lot of "Not Good Enough for Truth in Cliche". It makes sense that Max still writes the songs, but the combination of Craig giving a mediocre effort and Feldmann just generally dumbing things down, I'm pretty dissapointed.

I think John Feldmann is generally a good producer, when he isn't adding loads of samples to songs for the sake of it.

His production is becoming annoying. He's starting to do the same thing on every album he produces, which includes unneeded vocal effects, horns where they aren't needed, electronic sounds where they aren't needed. I think this is why The Used went in a different direction this time.

Maybe that's also why Lostprophets went back to Bob Rock to finish their album, haha.

I can't get over how generic this record is. It's almost as bad as Avenged Sevenfold's last album and Atreyu's last album.

Atreyus last album was produced by the same guy, so it doesnt really surprise me. I like the sound, I think it suits Atreyu a little better but I think Craig has a good voice even if the lyrics arent too good.

The more I listened to This War Is Ours, the more I liked it. I still think the vocals are a bit uninspired and the lyrics are a bit dodgy at times, but it's actually a pretty solid album. I think it could've done with more screaming here and there, though. Escape the Fate's old material didn't have a lot of screaming, but it still had more than what's on This War Is Ours. My only gripe with the vocals aside from those points is how they sound like The Used or My Chemical Romance at times. I think all the solos are solid and and the musicianship has definitely improved. It'll probably be in my top ten at the end of the year.

There's No Sympathy For The Dead, the EP that came before Dying Is Your Latest Fashion, definitely had a lot more screaming than either of the full lengths. It was also the most energetic and "inspired" of any material they've written, I think.

Yeah, but in the entire scope of their discography with Ronnie, the singing and screaming was pretty balanced. On This War Is Ours, the only songs that are even remotely in that same vein are "This War Is Ours/The Guillotine, Pt. 2" and "The Flood." All the others just have random screaming in the background. It's very unbalanced.
