I am thinking about buying a Nintendo Wii. Keyword is thinking. If I bought one I would like to hook it up on our big screen TV that we have downstairs. The thing is the TV is rather old. It's approximately 13-15 years old. Somewhere in that range. It's a Hitachi big screen rear projection TV. Is there some way I can figure out if it can handle a Nintendo Wii? I don't know if I have to look in the back somewhere to find a hook up or if it's too old to withstand Wii graphics.

    Picture of TV

I could easily hook it up on my TV. I know it will work on that but I'm just wondering about the big screen. I'm kinda at a loss on what I should do on how to figure out if it would work on that.

If anyone can lend some knowledge here, that would be great! :)

It'll PROBABLY work. Generally speaking, as long as the TV has a set of red/white/yellow A/V plugs on it somewhere, you should be good. Not sure how you'd set up the whole Wiimote sensor thing though, I don't own a Wii so I don't know much about it.

I've played Xbox 360 on a TV that was so old that it had one of those giant rotary clicking knobs on it for changing channels, and it was built in a wood casing. I think you'll be fine.

If the console itself works I'm guessing the sensor would as well. It's just a bar that you connect to the Wii and place either on top of the TV or right below the screen if you can.

Yeah, I don't see why not. As long as your TV has the connections Tasta said, or a SCART connection, then I'll think you'll be fine. Most TV's that old should at least have a SCART socket and the Wii comes with a SCART cable so you should be good.

It does work, My family took a trip to our grandparents house and they also have a big screen that could also be about 10 to 12 years old. and We took our Wii (it was when we barely bought it) and it worked.
only thing though is it does look like its kinda blurry or looks like iffy. still looks good, but since it is old it wont have that crisp feel.
I messed around with it for a full day to make it look good.
just changed like brightness and sharpens and made it look a little better.
even though it doesn't look crisp, I would still have that Tv. :)
