What is it with pets dying?

I just opened the cage up to put Pixie back (because she's been finding escape routes) and there I saw Dixie, the youngest rat, lying on the bottom of the cage (a makeshift one from something we got from the Reject shop) not moving. I hadn't known you long enough and only had you for about a week and a half but I was so close to you. Oh why did you die suddenly? Was it because you were sick and the pet store didn't tell us? Was it because you had a broken heart because we took you away from your mother? Was Pixie being mean to you? No blood no nothing. You were fine when I took you outside today to show the little asian boy next door. You were fine when Katie was talking to you today.

R.I.P Dixie the brown and white rat.

 

I'm sorry to hear again. I'm sure he didn't want to die but we'll never know. I hope you'll be alright soon and i'm sure he loved you!

Daniel thinks that she died from infection. Because the little other baby rats were picking on her at the pet store and we got her to save her from the other rats. She showed no sign that she was unwell, apart from the squeaking, in which we mistook for her being so young. We're burying her tomorrow in a box that Katie gave us. We were going to bury her in the box that we carried her home in from the pet store, but Daniel threw it. Grr. The reason why we got her because rats are social animals and have been proven to live longer with other rats around, and so she was a friend to Pixie. They would cuddle up when they would be asleep and they built their nest together out of toilet paper and strips of newspaper. No other rat will replace Dixie in my heart, but we need to get Pixie another rat to play with and snuggle up with when they sleep. Trixie will be the next rat who will not be younger but try to be Pixie's age.

 

Yeah, it didn't even loosen me up mentally. I still had the same thoughts that I always do and whatnot.

But I didn't mix...well, I had ONE Corona, which tasted like piss, then had a really strong margarita, 2 yaeger bombs (or however you spell it), 2 shots of yaeger, and 3 or 4 shots of tequila.

Like, it was fun drinking and hanging out, but as I said, it didn't even loosen me up. I was aware that I was walking like an idiot and I hated the feeling of not being in control of my body. It scared me not being able to walk without using the walls to stay up straight and stuff.

I don't think I've ever hated anybody so much in my entire life.

 

I'm afraid that's just the effect I have on people sometimes.

okay first am really really sorry about what happened .. but look, i've read alot about hamsters and their common disease when i first got mine -i know yours is a rat not a hamster- but it might be the same! here, read this:

Hibernation: if the room temperature is allowed to drop below normal room temperature, hamsters will go into a sort of hibernating state, where they are very still and breathe very slowly. Many owners panic and think their hamster is dying or dead, when might be a matter of the hamster getting too cold (for exapmle if the owners go away for the day and turn the thermostat down in the house). Rewarming the hamster should be sufficient.

 

One reason, among several others, I am glad I am old enough to not worry about my mom. My husband is completely clueless when it comes to computers, so I don't have to worry about that either.

I'm really quite nervous about tomorrow. Which is strange since we're just friends, but being the first time we'll be meeting, still.
