^Meh, Chester's voice is awfully gritty and rough compared to Plant's, particularly in his high register (which is where most Zep songs are sung). For the sake of just doing some covers here and there, his voice is great, but I don't think it'd be the best fit for him singing Led Zeppelin songs full-time.

I think I remember a quote attributed to one of them saying they didn't like Linkin Park. Although that might have been Plant himself, haha.

I think he did great here considering how hard it is to sing this song (song starts at about 1:20).

But I agree, it's very gritty.

as much as i love Chester, believe he's got a unique voice and think he did somewhat an alright job in this song, i've one thing to say: attempting to sing such a song by one of the awesomest bands ever isn't quite the smartest thing to do ..

EDIT: i think i wasn't being completely fair to him, i actually think he did a pretty impressive job there ..

He also covered AC/DC, and Guns N' Roses at that same show. At a Doors tribute concert, he covered a song by The Doors with the original lineup (minus Jim Morrison respectively).

Chester has a habit of covering awesome songs by awesome bands

His performances on those covers are actually pretty convincing, imo. But I agree with Tasta in that his vocals are probably a little bit too inconsistent for him to do full sets with them.

haha, yeah i know that and i don't really mind it much .. it's just that i think it's not fair for him because he probably will never sound as good as the "original" songs and people will always have some pretty high standards to compare him to, so yeah ..

and again, it's not that i don't like his covers or that i think he shouldn't do any, but i mean Led Zeppelin? AC/DC?, come on! lol

Chester has an awesome rock n' roll voice, he'd be the best choice out IMO.

I don't see where your coming from at all.

Pub rock bands cover Zeppelin and AC/DC all the time with shitty singers. No one ever complained about that.

Chester Bennington is a great singer by the way.

AC/DC hardly requires much talent in any department anyway...

Not that they aren't good, in their own way, but still, it's hardly difficult music, vocals included.

Zeppelin is a different story, but still, they vocals aren't exactly incredible.
    IMO

Yeah but he isn't some "pub rock band" now, is he??

And hell yeah he's a great singer, no one disagreed there ..

he's about twenty times better than 'some pub rock band' so that should mean he has even more right to cover Zep or AC/DC wouldn't it?

Yes it would, still it wouldn't make him look too good for the songs he's choosing to cover are pretty great and am not only talking vocal-wise here ..

I realy don't know what are we arguing about ..

    shai wut?

You for some reason disagree with chester doing zep, ac/dc covers, and I don't understand at all why you think this, when thousands of pub rock bands cover em all the time -usually with worse vocalists-.

Thats what I was thinking. I really just do not see it. Sure, he can cover it, but fronting Led Zeppelin? Ehhh I really dont think so.

I was going to say. Speaking purely from a technical standpoint Plant and Chester are probably around about the same, but I don't know if Chester would have the right character to front them judging by his outward personality and the Camp Freddy shows. His actual vocal performance is great but he just stands there holding the mic stand.
