Subject: Your sound

Message: Pop punk called, they want all their cliches back.




Jesus, you'd think We the Kings were just covering songs from All Time Low, Yellowcard, Senses Fail and Mayday Parade.

 

Senses Fail are pop-punk? Though to be fair, I feel most pop-punk is just a variation on the same formula. Some just do it better than others.

 

Senses Fail are basically post-hardcore but they've got a very dominant pop punk element to their music.

There's one song by We the Kings (I'm not sure which now because all their songs sound the same except for "Check Yes Juliet") where the chorus sounds exactly like a verse from a Senses Fail song.

I don't have any Senses Fail on my computer (at the moment) to check which one, but the vocal melody was the exact same.

Then there are other songs where We the Kings sound like they wrote a song for So Wrong, It's Right by All Time Low and there was another that sounded exactly like Yellowcard.

I mean, I like them, and they're talented, but come on.

 

I've never actually heard We the Kings. But from the sound of it I think I'll just stick with the more established bands when I'm in the mood for some pop punk. Which is a lot of the time.

 

I'm sure it's on their MySpace, so you should check out "Check Yes Juliet." That's an amazing song. Unfortunately, it's the only song of theirs that stands out.

All my talk of pop punk reminded me that I like A Day to Remember a lot, so I'm playing them right now. I haven't heard their album in forever.

we were listening to ADTR and The Poison when I broke my tooth. So now that's all I'll think about when I listen to For Those Who Have Heart lol.
