Holland and Italy are going through. Anyone watched the France - Italy game? Apparently Ribery got a red card in the beginning of the match, I'm curious why.
No Ribery went off injured with a suspected achilles injury while Eric Abidal was sent off for a cynical challenge in the box which resulted in a penalty which Italy scored.
Yeah, same. But then again, you play to win, you don't play so you can kick others out. Btw, that french team...dear. god. I have never seen such a bad team. -.-
Yeah you play to win and that was Van Basten's intention, but with 9 substitudes you dont really expect them to win Not after you've seen Portugal lose with 2-0 by Switserland.
I don't think the french national team is bad at all. I think that Domenech is a truly terrible manager though. He doesn't pick players in his team who have the star sign of Leo ffs... Also they missed Vieira big time. If they had a better manager who wouldn't be so persistant in playing such a fucking terrible formation with the wrong players then they'd be quite a good side I think. It says something that Clichy and Sagna were voted the premiership's best fullbacks this season and yet Domenech prefers to play Abidal, who has had a terrible season at Barca, and Sangol who has lost his pace. Also playing 4-4-2 with two holding midfielders? What the fuck? Where's the creativity in the team. If I was coach of France this would be my starting XI: ------------Frey---------------- Sagna--Gallas--Mexes--Clichy ---------Toulalan-------------- ---Vieira-------Flamini--------- Ribery---------------Malouda-- ---------Henry------------------
You wanna keep Henry? He's good in his own team, but in the national team he's fucking terrible. And don't get me started on Malouda and Toulalan, Henry can't play for fuck and Toulalan gets way too many yellow cards.
The only reason I say keep Henry and Malouda is because...well...who else? Anelka is bollocks and Benzema and Gomis aren't experienced enough yet and on the left wing there's no one else who's really a natural left footed winger... I dunno. They should be doing better than they have been but then again Italy can consider themselves increadibly fortunate to be in the quarter finals. If Buffon didn't make the penalty save against Romania then they're out. But then again the Italians always seem to get the luck.
I think Italy can thank Holland for being sportive and play to win instead of letting Romania win, or else Holland could've thrown out both Italy and France just like that.
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5gi4r2WnZD2_eN2X9PS4LD8Rc3ydA They don't say it for nothing that games are won or lost in the dressingrooms
I'm taking that with a pinch of salt but I often hear that Benzema is increadibly arrogant and thinks he's better than he is. See this is why Domenech should be shown the door. He had two players refuse to play for him this evening (Sagnol & Thuram) and now rumours of bust-ups in the dressing room. It's a joke that this is what's become of the side who were once considered the best national team in the world. Although I was semi-supporting France this tournament, I'm glad they're out. Now maybe we can wrap up the Nasri transfer once and for all.
The commentator on my TV station also said that they had a quarrel after the last game, and I also read it from a couple of more sources. I doesn't neccesarily mean it's true but where there's smoke.. Maybe they need Zidane back Anyway, Holland is a fucking machine. Their B team ran over Romania that draw with both finalist from the last World Cup. I don't see a team that can stop them now. Maybe Croatia though, if they manage to get to the final which I think they will. They're my dark horse for this championship.
yeh me too.. but Marj is right, Holland set out for the win and they got it. fair play to them the only thing now is that they might face Italy again in the later stages
