Sorry for the lame thread title, I don't have as much practice as a lot of people around here. But YES, Funeral For A Friend's new single "Waterfront Danceclub" is finally out there! I obviously can't post a link or anything, but it was streamed from Radio 1 in the UK tonight and I think it's absolutely wicked cool. Sure, I like all their music, but I think this is taking it to another level. Effects I haven't heard them use before in any of their songs, Matt's vocals are ace... song made my week. I'm gushing, I know. It kills me that we'll have to wait til the end of the year for this, but at least we should be getting another track next month. I'm pretty sure it'll be up for repeat online soon, but has anyone else heard this? Thoughts? http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/rockshow/ Maybe it can still be found on there somehow, I don't know.
I don't like it at all. It's like they took a song they rejected from TDTT and added the elements from their previous work that all the idiot fashioncore kids went "OMFG SELLOUTZ" at when they were found lacking on that album, ie a few randomly placed screams and the double kick at the end. The chorus is awful, and usually even their worst songs have a half-decent chorus. It really seemed like the band were on to something special, what with all the hype coming from them as well as their leaving Atlantic and starting a new label. I hope that's still the case.
I think it's good, has elements of their older stuff and newer stuff, and Im actually looking forward to the rest of the album.
The beginning of the song was really annoying. I almost turned it off before it ever got going because it was making my headache worse. I don't think it's a bad song but by Funeral's standards, it's not very good. The vocals don't seem all that great (the chorus is awful). I think the lead guitar was my favorite part.
I got a headache from listening to my rip, although I think that was because in that copy the bass was really loud. The one on their myspace seems fine in that respect.
Furthering my excitement, "Beneath the Burning Tree" was also played on Radio 1 today and a rip has made its way around the intarwebz. To me, it sounds like even more of a musical change for them - I mean, it's still rock, yet it's sort of a different sound - but this band just can't seem to let me down. I'm in love with the end of the song, and the band in general for making my week with all this new music. If anyone can get a hold of it, what you do you think?
It's grown on me a tad. It's okayish. I don't really see why it's a single though, it seems more like an opening song which would build towards a more single-sounding song. I must have seemed pretty angry before haha. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/deanster321/mnh.jpg maybe a clue as to a possible album title? Beneath The Burning Tree is good. Gareth should do lead vocals for them at some point.
Oh yeah. Oh well, I was having fun with that for like five minutes. I was hoping it would be called 'Masturbation & Hankies'.
Yeahhh. I didn't clarify that at all. I meant, why's the track title got "MASTER" in it? The filename would lead me to believe you got it off their MySpace, but I'm way too lazy to go look right now.
