The Most Superior Console That Was Ever Made, it was made before its time of course, but I demand you to appreciate it. -Waits for ze appreciation to begin-
I agree, the Dreamcast was way before its time. I'm fortunate to own one that I still play from time to time. Although it doesn't have a very strong library (probably due to the short lifespan of the console itself), the unique and rare titles are gems in their own rights. To this day I've yet to see a game use voice recognition/interaction between human/NPC as Seaman did so brilliantly.
I have a Dreamcast. I've been dying to play it, but I can't find a cord to hook up to the TV. But I loved the Dreamcast. I played it a lot more than the Nintendo 64. Thanks to that system I fell in love with the Soul Calibur series, Seaman, Dead or Alive series, Jet Grind Radio, and many others. But my all time favorite Dreamcast title is Resident Evil: Code Veronica
I remember buying my Dreamcast because I couldn't find a PS2 at that time. It was definitely ahead of its time. Granted, many of the games were either ported to other consoles or had better sequels made on them, but I still love it for nostalgic reasons. Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, MDK 2, and Dead or Alive were a few of my favorites.
The only time I ever played a Dreamcast, I played Crazy Taxi. And it was fun. But that's about as far as my appreciation for the Dreamcast ever got, sadly.
I loved the Dreamcast, it allowed me to access the internet with a dail up modem when I could not afford Broadband. It also had some kick ass games, like Soul Calibur and Shimue and Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, plus I enjoyed the Tony Hawk games.
Reasons why the Sega Dreamcast was good. 1. Right out of the box internet browsing and online game support. 2. The VMU Memory Card system, not only saved games, but played games. 3. It was very easy to play backedup games and to run homebrew software 4. Ran Windows CE 5. Was Small so fit in more places more easily (though it was a little heavy) 6. Reliable games, it hardly ever froze on me. Maybe I shoud review it.
I couldnt believe it when they discontinued it. I loved that system. Im surprised no one mentioned Jet Set Radio. That game was so addicting
I loved the DreamCast & still have two of them. It was a brilliant system and still is in my book. Not only did it introduce my favorite and best game ever, Shenmue, it had loads of awesome games. I used to love to play Jet Set Radio, Virtua Tennis and I even played my first online console game with the DC, Unreal Tournament. Awesome system.
