There's absolutely no correlation between what I said and what you think I said. I said he knows what he's doing. I did not say that for someone to have an opinion means they have to be able to do better. That's asinine. Please don't put words in my mouth.
I didn't put words in your mouth. I just said that what you posted doesn't really bear any relevance, and then compared it with something else that is often said which follows the same train of logic. Why get so worked up about our opinions in the first place if you really value Cornell's more anyway?
Based on a live concert I watched on YouTube, I'm comfortable in saying that Chris Cornell has the worst stage presence of anyone I've seen who doesn't lip-sync. The man just walks around uninterested. Phenomenal voice, average solo effort, but terrible stage presence.
I've got to agree with Dean, here. You more or less told Dean he was wrong because Cornell "knows what he's doing," which is completely irrelevant to the definition of what an "opinion" is. Cornell could have all the idea in the world as to what he's doing, but if Dean's not going to like it, he's entitled to his opinion, whether you think Cornell "knows what he's doing" or not. It just bears no relevance to the discussion at all.
I've said this 1000 times but Chris Cornell for some reason never translates well onto video. His voice always sounds shot(has got alot better recently though) and they're never great performances. You need to experience him in concert. He's fantastic. To be fair, I'd halfass a performance for bloody AOL Online or Msn Video.
I was referring to the MSN concert he did, but I came to the same conclusion so I looked at a few other live performances (both solo and Audioslave) and all the man does is stand in one place, or walk around slowly. And I'm talking about more upbeat songs here. Great live voice. One of the most pitch-perfect I've heard when compared to studio material, but damn he needs to show some emotion and engage the audience.
I'd agree with the Euphoria Morning and the first Audioslave tour 'cause he was on drugs and smoking heavily, but since then his stage presence has been fine. I saw him in Sydney twice last year and he owned the stage. Definately didn't walk around disinterested. It's a different kind of stage presence to the typical rock singer 'cause he doesn't run around like a maniac and end up panting by the end of the show. But i hate that, just seems to forced and looks ridiculous.
I saw him live last year, and I had no problem with his performance. The man seemed to take up the whole fucking stage, lanky bastard...
I'm going to quote myself here, since you clearly do not recall what I said: I said I respect Cornell's opinion on rock music (and the obvious implication there is his own music) more than I respect anyone else's opinion on rock music on this message board. I'm sorry, but would you disagree with that statement? Because I sure don't think it's a slap in the face to anyone here or even any sort of remote indication that someone can't have an opinion because they're not a professional musician. The "same train of logic" isn't there at all. I'm not getting "worked up" about your opinions. You responded to my post, I responded to yours. Is there some sort of alternate universe where when someone makes a statement to you you're not supposed to respond? I could just as easily ask why you're getting so worked up over my opinion when you didn't have to respond to me at all. Never said he couldn't have his own opinion anywhere. I said I respect Cornell's opinion more and thus give it a little more weight in what I think about the record, especially since he's the one who made the record and, thus, has actually HEARD the record. Anyways, I'd prefer to keep this conversation between Kramer and I as I was only talking to him
Oh, right, I forgot we're not on a message board where people can respond to whomever they please. THAT WOULD JUST BE CRAZY.
It makes perfect sense. Also if Cornell keeps growing out his hair, he might regain his Badmotorfinger & Temple of the Dog super powers. Buzz cut Superunknown powers? Or hecticly long Badmotorfinger & Temple of the Dog powers?
