How? I mean, you didn't mention a specific name.

I just know it happens to me a lot. Sometimes I'll even make up random facts that aren't true to prove my point. That doesn't happen often though.

 

You know, I've been fascinated with that whole thing since I was like 7. The whole vampires/werewolves thing. It's just so... interesting. Kinda like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, only not as childish.

 

Yeah... I do it a lot as well, so I guess that renders my original post void

 

Fuck yeah.... That stuff is always so badass.

 

I have an unhealthy knowledge about vampires. Jay and I are both way too into werewolves for our own good.

I'm starting to learn a bit about faeries too, specifically Unseelie court.

 

I used to go to the library (because my mom wouldn't let me buy the books), and read all these books about vampires, and werewolves, and the myths and legends, origins, that kind of stuff. Then, once we didn't go to the library anymore, I just kinda stopped. I just started reading stuff again, mainly online though. It's interesting how little I really knew about them.

 

Up until a few years ago I was quite into myths and legends etc. and I still am but I just don't go looking into detail anymore.

My favorite is the myth of how Santa's elves came about. Ruins Christmas every year

In German mythology, there are these dwarf like creatures called Tomtin. They drink blood, obviously, but they aren't undead. Well, it was a way to keep children from breaking rules. If they were bad in any way, the Tomtin would find them.

Well, as most people know, the Church adopted many pagan ideas and conformed them into their belief to get more converts. They associated the tomtin with Buller Klaus, or Belled Nicholas. Every Christmas night they would call all the children out of their houses and test them on the Christian catechism. If they answered correctly, they were given food and presents, and the tomtin didn't like this one bit. However, if they answered wrong, the tomtin would throw coal at the children until they bled, and then they would lick the wounds.

Fucked up, eh?

Over time, the tomtin evolved into Santa's elves.

 

That explains my lust for the blood of small children on Christmas Day!
