Does anyone here have an iPod touch? I think it looks pretty sexy, and I'm contemplating picking up the 8GB version. Have you heard of any issues with it, by either yourself or your friends?
I have a 160gb iPod Classic with no complaints. My ex-girlfriend got a touch and says it's really annoying. My friend just came over with their iPod Touch, and I tested the internet functions. The interface was slow and glitchy. It locked up for moments. I wasn't impressed. I'll stick to the classic.
Not really a choppy interface. When you use the internet, the keyboard can be slow sometimes when your typing on a site, not necessarily when you're typing in an address. On forums though, its kind of annoying because if you backspace, it clears everything in the box instead of just the last letter. Hence why you'll see me make typos every once in awhile. Other than that, it's a wonderful little device and has everything the iPhone does except the phone. It works as a great PDA.
yeah mine sometimes erases everything sometimes on what you type down but its because you touch something else and it makes it all highlight everything and erases but its not a big deal the choppy thing is sometimes dependin on your source for internet mine works fine, and the keys only slown down when you type something fast and then try to type once more somewhere else but still a pretty awesome. going to go buy the 32gb one and give this 16 gb to my bro. have had this since it came out and never had a angry moment when it fails to satisfy my music/video/internet needs.
I agree. The interface is extremely easy and I, too, have not had a single problem with mine. I had a 16GB that I sold to try and get an iPhone but my mom wouldn't cancel my service with Verizon so I rebought my iPod Touch but my decision wasn't based on the touch at all. It's great when you have access to wi-fi so you don't have to always have a laptop with you. That's the main reason I got it. I was getting yelled at, at work for having my laptop.
I've got an 8GB iPod Touch and love it. The interface can get tedious if you're like me and read news sites with articles that span a few pages. Sometimes tapping a link gets hard if you don't zoom in enough. As for these supposed interface issues I haven't had any real difficulties. Typing for me is perfectly fine give or take the few times I hit the wrong key, but I've never used my iPod to post on a forum or anything of the sorts so I can't comment on that.
The keyboard, I think, would never be a long-term problem anyway. Your fingers will get used to it if you're having difficulties pressing the wrong keys and whatnot. What's weird is how you guys compliment the interface so much. I don't know if you're just being optimistic because you own the things, but I'd be surprised if Apple released anything with a perfect interface. I experienced some serious lagging at times that was annoying, and it seemed like it was getting too worked up in doing simple tasks, which caused me to lose patience in it and give up altogether. Maybe the particular iPod Touch was worse than most. I'm sure my friend probably hadn't got many of the updates? But I have used every iPod model since the first iPod was released, and I know they always have some major bugs that sometimes never go away. The iPod Touch, in my opinion, is not excluded from that. I'd just be shocked if the interface wasn't slightly glitchy. I'm sure yours are better than others, but I just don't believe that Apple could make something like that when iTunes isn't even completely fixed yet, you know?
Well that was your experience, Zak. But it sounds like not everyone has the same issues with the interface as you did. Maybe it's not optimism but plain old customer satisfaction? You do know those differ from customer to customer, right? It's not a detraction from your... iPod-usage-experience, but rather just opinions and personal experiences with the product.
Yeah, that's what I said, it's just hard for me to believe Apple could release an interface without issues.
I'd love an iPod Touch. Lemme know when they come out with a 500GB version, or at least 320GB (which won't fit all my music).
just got my 32gb touch and filled it all up already with my media needs. im pretty sure people can come up with just 32gb of "must haves" playlist its not that hard. and its still sweet! like i said about the interface, ive said i havent had a problem where i would b*tch or scream at the touch for its interface, just be patient. oh and for mark, how you like it so far?
