http://stadium-arcadium.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16858&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Very good. I can not wait till the next RHCP album comes out. Judging by this, there could be an album out by mid to late 2009. Im interested to see what direction they go with on thier next release. I hope that they return to the alternative rock from Californication, adding in some more funk. I have not listened to Stadium Arcadium yet, but I have heard that there were too many ballads, so I hope that they somewhat return to their funk-rock sound. Also, they should experiment slightly. Not too much, just enough so that the sound wont get old.
1) Badass, can't wait for new stuff! 2) Californication is when they started doing more ballad-type material, and straying away from their funk sound. 3) The reason there are so many ballads is because Anthony Kiedis doesn't want to rap anymore. 4. You think THEY should experiment? Here's John Frusciante describing all the crap he did to Dani California ALONE. Part One Part Two Really, all I want is more basslines from Flea. He's been so nonexistent the last two albums... but John, stay the way you are.
In my opinion, Californication was more alternative rock them pop ballads. Scar Tissue and Porcelain were poppy, but they were better then most of their current stuff, and a lot of it was more funk driven rock. Also, I agree that Flea should definately play more. Or, at least more noticeably. I really think that he has not been used to his full potential on the last albums.
I just wanna hear Flea. And I don't want every song to sound the same the way Stadium Arcadium did. Good songs, but pretty boring album overall.
To be completely honest, I really am starting to get tired of Anthony's singing. I'd much rather have John on vocals. His voice appeals to me more. Anthony can stick to rapping. Also, if at all possible, I want a studio recorded version of this:
Sweet! Stadium Arcadium was disappointing IMO, so I'm looking forward to this one. Hopefully it'll have tracks like Otherside and Zephyr Song.
Am I the only one who enjoyed Stadium Arcadium? That album is like Frusciante at his best. But I guess it's because I'm a JF worshipper.
I'm with you on this. I'm a huge Chili's fan, and as much as I love Flea, the basslines on Stadium Arcadium are pretty good, they're just not as in your face. It's a good album in it's own right, and JF is the man. Only downside to SA is the fact that the singles were too overplayed. Dani California got so old so quickly. I remember when Warner Bros. released a black and white video of Anthony jumping around on the coast and it played the chorus to DC, and it sounded amazing. Now, it pisses me off. I'm stoked to hear new music, and whatever they come out with will be gold I'm sure.
I thought SA was a brilliant album. Hopefully their new material will be awesome too. I love the band but I tend to think that some of their stuff is hit and miss. I thought Californication was superb but By The Way only had a few good songs. SA was a great return to form though and I hope they keep it up.
In particular, I like By The Way as a Frusciante album rather than as an RHCP album. He had a lot of control in that album. Flea almost quit because of it.
I agree, I think the music is perfect, I'm a Frusciante worshipper aswell. Their weak link has become Anthony over the years, he is, of course, lead singer and he's important but his voice has gotten weaker and now the funk has faded dramatically, his lyrics aren't that impressive anymore either. They don't seem to make sense most of the time. But that's the only reason why I think SA wasn't as good as it could've been. Always found it funny how John Frusciante explains the title of the record: "I guess the spirits were trying to tell Anthony to name it Stadium Arcanum, meaning secret. But he understood Arcadium."
