I just run into MCR a lot more than I do Megadeth...the only reason I really know of them outside of just the name is because my friend is a fan of them. Why do you believe Megadeth should headline over MCR?

I mean, they just recently "reformed" and don't seem to be nearly as big as they once were...

Megadeth have sold millions of more records and they'll still be relevant 30 years from now. My Chemical Romance is a fad band, they'll disappear when the scene does.

I also don't think it's fair to say they "recently reformed" considering they only went on a year and a half hiatus from 2002-2004.

Megadeth is one of the most powerful names in all of rock music. They've done more for rock than My Chem ever will.

in my opinion, both historical significance and and current popularity should be a deciding factor in who headliners over who. right now, my chemical romance would sell the tickets as opposed to megadeth, but also, megadeth would draw in alot of the older crowd (much in the same way that metallica will do the same at bonnaroo this june).

the only solution to this conundrum is a ladder match.

Look back through my posts and show me where I said I dislike MCR. I said I thought they were over-rated however I also said that I like them to an extent. ;)

    Quoted for the utmost truth.

I see making an older and more successful band a headlining act a far more smarter way of selling tickets. If a band such as Metallica or Megadeth was the headline act (or in this case Kiss) then the older fans as well as the newer generations will buy tickets. With a band such as MCR it's usually only the newer generation who would guy tickets. I'd like to see a Metallica or Megadeth fan from back in the early 80's who would want to spend money on an expensive festival ticket to see MCR. I will then have truly seen everything.

Although then again these atleast-50-year-old guys at 01:27 in this vid seemed to have a keen interest in LP:

Don't get me wrong, I respect My Chemical Romance even though I think their music is a pile of rubbish, but I don't think they should ever headline over a band like Megadeth, no matter the circumstances. That'd be like The Offspring headlining over Judas Priest.

    Oh wait.

I think it's a little less bad with The Offspring though. I mean they've been going for more than 20 years and have sold millions of records too. Lostprophets is probably the only headline act I'd object to considering they aren't really a massive band. Okay, they're a brilliant band but they're not in the calibre of other modern day bands such as LP etc.

It's still a shock. Judas Priest are one of the most influential metal bands of all time. To have them supporting cock rock like The Offspring is just... laughable, I think.

Well let's just put it this way; The Offspring sure as hell deserve to headline more than Lostprophets, MCR or Feeder. The fact that Feeder actually headlined Download once is just another sign that the world is coming to an end.

I won't deny that they deserve to headline. But over Judas Priest?

Lostprophets shouldn't be headlining over them either. They're great but... come on.

    I know. It's madness.

In all honesty though, the way that Download has gone over the years, I wouldn't at all be surprised if Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin were support for a band like Fall Out Boy.

Every thread on here gets derailed lately, why should this one be any different?

I don't have any chance of going to Download but hopefully there are some good support acts so I can hopefully find video online.

Man, Incubus should have headlined instead of The Offspring.

    Who? Corey?

I dunno, I've never even heard him talk about them. I know that some members of LP are friends with a few members of Slipknot though.

Oh. I just had the idea that he and Mick Thompson hated all other bands who were associated with nu-metal, haha.
