I hate Kiss, but they're admittedly much bigger than Motorhead, popularity and sales-wise.

    Kiss? What the fuck...

I'm sorry, but this lineup sounds shit...Sorry to fans of all these, (and I am a Lostprophets fan) but wtf...

I'm a Lostprophets fan. Rise Against are alright. Kiss and Judas Priest should be worth watching. Hopefully Alexisonfire will be there again as well. Don't really care for The Offspring right now though. Motorhead? I guess you have to give them credit for achieving such longevity when they essentially have only two songs.

I dunno why the hell they've got Kiss in as a headline act. They should be a support act at very most. They havn't released a damn album in like 10 years. Okay niether did GNR but come on, it's GNR.

KISS not being a headline act? Are you fucking serious? I bet they would all die before being a supporting act for some shitty new band that hasn't done anything to revolutionize music.

I always smile when I see a band like lostprophets headlining over something like Judas Priest because you just know it will give elitist fans things to whine about.

The line-ups just get worse every year. This shall be another year I won't be attending.

I will say this much: the drumming on Overkill is amazing.

I dunno, I thought last year's lineup was decent apart from MCR headlining. Soooo many people were pissed off about that.

Didn't they get bottled or something? Either way MCR are amazing, they deserve to headline most shows I could imagine.

Yeah they got bottled. It was quite funny.

I didn't like the fact that they headlined tbh. I'm not saying they didn't deserve a place in the lineup but all the organisers did was take the band of the moment and give them the headline act. They didn't deserve it imo.

MCR are one of the biggest bands in the world right now...I don't see many others being more deserving besides like, maybe Linkin Park.

Hmmm, maybe Metallica perhaps. Or maybe Red Hot Chili Peppers. Or maybe just a band that wont get bottled.

Look, MCR probably deserved to headline a few festivals but download is not one of them. Kiss probably deserve to headline more than they did.

I like MCR to a certain extent but they're way overhyped and over rated. The Black Parade was a good album but personally I don't see why everyone seemed to put it in their top 3 albums lists. Each to their own I guess but the organisers of Download pissed off alot of people by making them the headline act.

I'd love to know what justifies bottling though.

Nothing justifies bottling. And Luke, just because YOU don't like MCR is rather unimportant...they are still one of the biggest bands currently around and are more deserving than most to headline almost any music festival imaginable.

Yeah, excluding about five billion bands that have been big in the past thirty years or so.

 I'm a fan of MCR but to say that they're more deserving than most bands to headline a festival is quite ridiculous. Especially when you're talking about Download which is primarily known to be geared towards a heavier crowd. MCR held their own in that headlining spot but they're relatively a new band and just because The Black Parade sold so much, doesn't make them fit to headline such a huge festival.

And yes I am aware they are a great live act. But that doesn't matter as much. Longevity in the industry, quality of the show, and popularity should all play a part and MCR headlining next to a band that's been around for 10 years is disgraceful.

As for KISS, I do believe that if they are to play a festival, they should be a headliner but they're irrelevant in this current day and age. They are an amazing live act either way

It shouldn't matter at all how long a band has been around...if they can pull the crowds, they can pull the crowds. MCR have, as you admitted, popularity and (often) are a great live act. Just because some other band has been around for 10 years and MCR have only been around for 7...so what? MCR have accomplished more in their 10 years than most bands could dream of achieving in 30. And who did MCR headline over? These guys:

    Velvet Revolver
    Wolfmother
    DragonForce
    Megadeth
    Hinder
    Buckcherry
    Zico Chain

Out of that lineup, I don't see how MCR could NOT headline. I mean, does the general public even know of half these bands? I mean, I have never even heard of Zico Chain, Buckcherry, or Wolfmother and don't see how someone like Hinder or Dragonforce are at all more deserving. And sure, Megadeth may have been around longer but from what I recall their line up of members is about as stable as the situation in Iraq right now.

MCR deserved to headline that night, and Linkin Park deserved to headline the following one. These bands draw the crowds, and just because some elitists had a hissy fit and threw bottles at them shows nothing except the low calibur of fans some of these other bands draw in.

 You honestly think MCR should have headlined over Megadeth? Are you fucking kidding me? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard

EDIT: Besides Megadeth, the only band I could picture people not hearing of is Zico Chain. Hinder was all over radio and TV, Buckcherry has been huge, Velvet Revolver is huge, and Dragonforce wasn't big then but has since grown because of Guitar Hero III. I just don't see any logic in you believing that MCR deserved to headline over Megadeth.
