To get back to the LOL [OFFICE] names... I may call:

"LOL THE UK OFFICE WAS/IS SO MUCH BETTER"

 

Steve Carrell > Ricky Gervais, any day.

I'm not saying anyone is better than anyone else; I'm saying that the UK version of The Office is by far superior


And at least Ricky Gervais actually wrote the UK version of The Office as well as starring in it.

 

I figured.

Ricky Gervais' writing is good but I'm not always keen on his acting. To each their own I guess. And yeah, you can't really compare the two in terms of how involved they are/were anyway.

 

I'd say as far as acting goes Steve Carrell is a lot better but overall I'd say Gervais is better due to the fact that he's bloody hilarious, especially his stand up stuff.

I'm also a big fan of the "uncomfortable" comedy that he writes for his shows.

 

Ricky Gervais is only good at being a comedian if he has a script, he can't adlib very well when most comedians can. To me Jimmy carr and Kevin Smith are good comedians because they can both do well scripted comedy and also adlib effectively.

Gervais fell flat on his face at the Princess Di memorial concert last year when he had to fill a 5 minute slot! 5 minutes, surely he could of pulled some old stand-up jokes out of the closet, but no he had to do the stupid office dance.

 

I'd say the best at doing adlib is Jim Jefferies. He also deals with hecklers amazingly well.

Actually, I saw him in the summer and someone collapsed during the show and he managed to make it hilarious (the guy was fine in the end).

I'd agree that Jimmy Carr is amazing although I've not seen Kevin Smith's stuff.

I'd probably have to agree with you on Gervais as well.

 

Jimmy Carr, Lee Evans, Jasper Carrot and Reginald D. Hunter ftw.

 

Hunter is hilarious. Saw him in the summer as well... I was dying with laughter

 

I've lived in England most of my life now and I gotta say the only thing I miss about America is the service you get in supermarkets, resturaunts and all other places. Over here people stare at you like they don't want you buying from their shop. See back in America all these places have one golden rule: The customer...might have a gun.

The guy's a genious.

Ryan Stiles is really good at adlib.

 

Whose Line is perhaps the greatest show ever.

Excluding about 10 shows, namely Seinfeld.
