    esaul: I quoted you to point out the reason the announcement wouldn't be odd. The study shows increased downloading is good for the industry, but your statement makes it seem like downloading is bad for the industry, which is why the announcement would be an odd one. ... Unless you'd like to reclarify yourself?

    My statement wasn't meant to say if downloading was good or bad. All I was saying is that, going on how the police were speaking, they seemed to be saying "downloading is bad, but we aren't capable of stopping it". Whether it actually is bad is another matter, but the police in that statement certainly seemed to be under the impression that is was negative. So it just seemed to me that they would have been better to keep their mouths shut and not announce that they were giving up, as the fear of punishment could still dissuade some downloaders.

    But even if they are saying that, the study I quoted to you about proves them wrong.
