Mike Commemorates Hybrid Theory's 7th Anniversary

    October 24th was the seven-year anniversary of the release of Linkin Park's debut album Hybrid Theory. The album has been by far the most successful of Linkin Park records, earning them a Diamond certification, the RIAA's highest accolade, by selling over ten million albums in the U.S. alone. Worldwide estimates have Hybrid Theory's sales numbers at around twenty million copies. To this day, the album accounts for around half of the band's fourty million plus albums sold worldwide.

    Mike recently posted a nostalgic blog about the album's anniversary on the band's MySpace page, recounting early stories of the band's existence, and thanking fans for their commitment throughout the years. You can read the entire blog here.

    Man. I'd hate to be that punk in the record store who turned LP away on the day Hybrid Theory came out. I bet he regrets that now!

    I think it feels like ages. I was a kid back then. Oh well...

    Hybrid Theory is still my favourite LP album with Minutes to Midnight on second and Meteora on third.

    That's awesome. I have been down since day one, and I've seen LP heighten in the charts and stuff.

    Ha ha, I bet after a few years and that kid relized how famous LP became he felt like an idiot for not letting them in the buy their own record! Still, amazing that it went Diamond, and that's selling so many copies every week.

    Question: Why do bands like to buy their own records the day they come out? :blink: I've never really understood that.

    Wow, so great those 7 years :D

    It's quite hard to believe that I've been listening since I was 8. Haha, it's funny to remember how hard I tried to keep it a secret from my friends and family back then. Actually, up until now, I still hide it from alot of people. However, I have told my parents finally and turns out that they have great respect for LP now.

    Because then there wouldn't be idiots who claims that they bought the first album ever. ;)

    Congratulations on Hybrid Theory for its 7th anniversary! I wonder if Meteora or Minutes To Midnight will ever earn their own recognition.

    i remember that i began to heard lp when papercut came out, then i got the album and to me its the best album till now.

    man, when i heard "With You" for the first time in my class, i liked it, then when i heard a live bootleg of the song, then i got hooked it.
