I noticed a similar thread about "Easier to Run", and that's where I got this idea from. I never hear a lot of people talk about it, and at one point it was my favorite LP song. I thought the lyrics were all great and the song had a nice flow with the rap and then the screamy parts.
Really? I've never heard them play it live, so I wouldn't know. Any real noticeable reason why it doesn't work live, or is it just one of those "can't really explain" type of ordeals?
i've seen two live videos of them playing it...it was alright to me just chesters screams didn't seem all that great during that song though mike's rapping was pretty good Edit: i meant chesters screams during the live performance
Amen. Seen a live recording of it on youtube...it totally killed the song for me... Other than that I don't mind it if it randomly gets played on my ipod...actually enjoy it every once in a while.
it sounds bad live? that's a shame, it always sucks when a good song just, for whatever reason, can't be pulled off live.
HtF is one of my favourite tracks off Meteora. I love the vocals, & Chester's screaming actualy is meaning full & goes surprizingly well with Mike's rapping. Brad aced the guitar, the riff is simple but catchy and it sounds really spooky in the verses with the help of Joes' great scratching. & Rob gave it a great hip-hop bounce. The only thing wrong with it is the bassline. Phoniex, you could have done much better!
That's three. It's just a great song really, but I do agree that Phoenix could have put a heavy heavy bass line in it through Mike's raps. Something like following the guitar then breaking off and adding a triplet or some sort of walking line.
I loved 'hit the floor' too. It's just so universal. Then I guess pretty much all their songs are, they aim for that.
there couldn't be any song of lps that i would dislike. except for maybe their collaboration with jay z. even reanimation...it's ok. but i couldn't dislike any of their originals.
By no means are you the only one who likes Hit The Floor. I personally rate it in their top 5 best songs. It reminds me kind of Forgotten, which is right up there in their best work. Dark rap versing, Blaring guitars, Angst filled chorus...all the things that make LP what they are. The part where mike says "I know I’ll never trust a single thing you say You knew your lies would divide us But you lied anyway And all the lies have got you floating Up above us all But what goes up has got to fall" is just so cool. So really the bridge is amazing lol, dare I say it, Hit The Floor could even be an improvement on Forgotten.
wow, It never came to my mind that the reason many people didn't liked it is because it doesn't sound as cool when performed live, I must be honest, I've never listened to it live, but even id I did, I like a lot that song and that's not gonna change
