I really don't have the energy to read everything everyone said. I just finished the book and I just have a couple of things to say: The Malfoy Family - What a bunch of whiny little bitches. Here I thought Lucius was all cool and his mom just loved her son too much. And Draco, he couldn't even kill Dumbledore in the 6th book. The whole family's just a bunch of pathetic, sad people. The Ending - A little convoluted, the ending (not the epilogue, more on that further down). I mean all this things you find out, and then even more things that counter the last thing. For example, the wand is Snape's. Wait -- no! its not! Its somehow now Draco Malfoy's? allow me to say "vat zeh hell?!". And the conversation between Voldemort and Harry Potter seemed a LITTLE too dragged out. "Oh yeah, well I know something you don't know!". "You do not!" "DO TOO! SNAPE WAS ON DUMBLEDORE'S SIDE!!!". "OH YEAH, WELL YOUR MOTHER SCREAMED WITH PAIN PROTECTING YOU!". "YEAH, WELL"......its that kind of thing that I'm complaining about. Snape - I thought his character turned out very nice, with some pleasant twists, not too overdone. His whole life was kind of pathetic, its a shame he had to befriend two future Death Eaters, he lost Lily over that. James (Harry's father) - he was kind of an ass, lol. always makin fun of peoplez and sneaking around. Neville: Wow, quite a change of character, don'tcha think, Rowling? Before he was a loozer and now he's like this gallant knight that pulls off all this amazing stuff. Maybe he's on 'roids... Epilogue - It didn't really explain entirely clearly what child belong to whom, and it never clearly stated that Harry and Ginny had been married, along with Ron and Hermione. I mean I guess if you're reasonably clever you could deduce it, but for an average reader, you're left a bit confused.
You obviously don't read clear enough. I already said it in an above post, but it was said that you gain ownership of the Elder wand by either killing the owner or disarming. The wand was Dumbledore's, and Draco had disarmed Dumbledore. People seem to miss that, especially Voldemort. He spotted Ginny two tables away; she was sitting with her head on her mother's shoulder: there would be time to talk later, hours and days and maybe years in which to talk. Pretty sure that gave it away.
eh I dunno I thought it said either by killing or just stunning and taking it from the person's hands. I tend to read over words sometimes, lol. As for the Ginny thing, I didn't get much from that sentence. I only really think about what the text is saying if I think it has something to do with something important.
well Mcpancakes with the HP books, a lot of things at the time meant nothing but Rowling left them as clues
You can't overlook anything in the HP series. Just about everything has a connection. Like what Amanda said above. How many honestly would have thought that the Marauders died in reverse order of how they were always presented (think back to the map, for example)?
yeah well I guess, but there's nothing left to worry about seeing as the series has ended. I have no clue how amanda guessed that, I guess she thought of it after the first two, that's the only way...
*shrugs* I took everything I read and filed it away for later use, later use being as I read DH. Things were just popping into my head and rotating like marquees as I read each chapter.
One thing I don't get is that Harry witnessed his mothers death. Bottom of page 281 DH: 'The child had not cried all this time: he could stand, clutching the bars of his cot, and he looked up into into the intruder's face' If he witnessed his mothers death. why could he not see the Thestrals from the beginning. It was a bit obvious to me from Book3 tha he had to of been awake, because to have a memory, you have to of witnessed it. That has just been plaguing my mind for a little bit *shrugs*
http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/full_story/1156 Rowling answers a lot of unanswered questions in the books.
Interesting, highly interesting. Just finished reading that, but yeah, her replies were pretty expected and obvious, in my opinion.
Hang on, what did she call that potion in the interview? Felix Felicitas? WRONG, JK! It's Felix Felicis. *childish giggle*
Uh-huh I cannot get enough of reading the part where Spoiler Ron and Hermione come back from the Chamber of Secrets, and Hermione's gushing about how amazing Ron was, and all.. I just love that part I literally cheered, I was like, "go Ron!"
The epilogue sucked. It was like a badly-written fanfic, not to mention it needed more Neville. God help whoever has to edit the film. Other than that, it was okay.
For the comments on the mistakes in the name for the Felix Felicis, I don't think that was a mistake on JK's part. If you notice, there are tons and tons of typos in that interview. It was driving me crazy...
Haha, I hafta agree with that. I've even read HP fanfics with much better endings than the one JKR wrote.
To be honest, there probably should have just been a Jade Empire-type thing where each character just gets some text explaining what happens to them, eg "This character marries that other character and becomes the emperor of China", except the last bit probably wouldn't apply to any HP characters, haha
