The other day I connected my iPod Shuffle to my pc to update it. However, when I opened iTunes the iPod folder thing didn't show up! Then later I even failed to safely disconnect my iPod from the pc as it was not letting me to!

After several failed attempts to make it work I gave up and thought that I should just listen to the existing songs in the iPod. But when I switched it on and pressed the "play" button, instead of playing the song, the green and the yellow lights started lighting up!

The bottom line is: My iPod isn't working.

    Somebody help!

Hmmm Something like that happened to me, i`m not sure what to suggest though, i`ve learnt though, that if the computer has a fault, the I-Pod will develop one, maybe your computer can`t read the connection from the USB, otherwise i`m not sure, have you tried contacting Apple, they might be able to help.

*cringe* iPod. Spell it with me, iPod - not Ipod, ipod, IPOD, i-Pod, i-POD, I-pod, i-Pod, or any other blatant variation that I can't think of right now - simply iPod.

Where on earth do you people get these ideas - the asylum?!

[and, no, hybridsoldier, I don't have a bone to throw to you for this one, sorry. try the warranty that came with your I-pod]

Yep It started to freeze on me after a while, so i let it run its battery down and closed all the open applications on my computer to make sure nothing would crash, then tried it all again.

 Sorry Tomi ill remember from now on.

Not to sound rude or anything, but that has got to be one of the dumbest things I've heard. A "fault" in your computer will not neccesarily effect an iPod or anything connected to it

No worries. I fixed it myself. Just had to download the iPod Reset Utility software and reset it.

It seems like 50% of the topics in this forum are iPod related? Could the iPod possibly be the most poorly built/programmed electronic device in history?

Cookies go to whoever makes a far-sweeping iPod troubleshooting guide.

Yeah, but what member is going to use that. They haven't before, and they're not going to start now.

I meant one thread where you can go from start to finish troubleshooting the various problems iPod users come upon, all in one post.

I don't have an iPod, so I wouldn't know where to start. I buy things that don't break consistently.

50% of the posts in this forum may be about the iPod, but 80% of them are likely duplicates.

Therefore a far-sweeping iPod troubleshooting sticky at the top of this forum would help lessen the amount of duplicate threads and thin out the clutter of iPod-related threads.

People can simply register themselves to the iLounge.com forum. It's solely dedicated to iPods!

The main reasons why certain iPods wont function right on certain PC's are that you barely added iTunes to your computer and it needs time to work with it. Many just add the program and BLAM they add their iPod, but yeah give it time.

    *scratches head*

To be honest, I don't see how that makes sense.
