Im thinking of buying an electric guitar, and I wanted to know which one I should get. I've looked around on the internet a little bit, but no one can seem to decide on one type, so I decided to ask here. The ones that i've heard the best things about are:

    - Gibson Les Paul
    - Fender Stratocaster
    - Gibson SG
    - Fender Telecaster

Also, im not sure if this matters, but im left handed. I am not sure if that affects what type of guitar I should get, but theres the information anyway. So, what is your opinion?

EDIT: Also, it has to be under $900

Les Paul's weigh an absolute ton. But what you get depends on what you want to play. There's no point in getting an Alexi Laiho signature ESP if you're going to play Jazz etc. The best guitars i've played have been a Dean Dime-o-Flage (which i own), a Jackson Randy Rhoads signature, a Vintage something-or-other (A friend owns it. It's good for most things, like Jazz, classical, classic rock etc.). THe first two are in a really realistic price range aswell. But either way, if this is your first guitar, don't splash out unless you are really passionate and certain.

Yeah, Les Paul's are really heavy and a lot better for soft rock I think. I doubt you'd get a decent one for less than 1000 dollars anyway.

As for the SG, they're really lightweight; it's like you're playing nothing .

Strats and Teles are sound aswell.

It really depends on what's most comfortable for you. I'd suggest going to a guitar/music shop and testing a few guitars. Even if it's just seeing how comfortable they are. Bear in mind though, with instruments it tends to be the most pricey ones that are of the best standard.

Dean Dime-o-Flage all the way if you know your Pantera. That's about £250 over here, which i'm not sure what the conversion rates are, but that must be about 700$CDN. Ask Test, he'd know.
