I just read an mtv article and they were comparing Linkin Park, Green Day, Nine Inch Nails and Colplay to U2 and Lp was at the top of the list.. . The Beatles have no doubt been the most inspirational band of all time that has dominated pop culture for generations, but U2 has probably been the next best thing, since the nineteen eighties anyway. It's funny how MTV thinks "What I've Done resembles U2's "Vertigo" music video, having it ben shot in the dessert and everything. They were saying that Chester resembled Bono by Chester's matching Shades and the way he held and swung the microphone side to side. I always thought that Chester more so resembled his hero, Scott Weiland in WID, but it's a funny read that none the less. Don't you think it's neat how people keep saying over and over again that Chester's voice sounds like Bono, especially on "Shadow of the Day"? Mike Shinoda credit's Chester as one of the greatest vocalists of our generation. I see Chester as THE greatest vocalist of our decade at least, but to have people compare his voice to Bono is a true milestone. Linkin Park are being compared to U2 and also praised in a similar way for their many charity works. Lp started Music for relief in 2005 and played at Live 8 show. Chester also visited Thailand after the tsunami to help the relief. I think everything Lp always gives back to the community in their charity work goes a long way and really gives them a good name, but the next U2? I'm not sure about that one.
I have to say that Linkin Park does not even come close to U2. U2 is on a level higher than any band out today. They have achieved ultimate greatness and they continue to inspire, even after being around for so long. Linkin Park's a great band but it's going to take many years to be anywhere near what U2 is.
I'm beginning to think they have the longevity to be around as U2. Minutes To Midnight showed that they have so much more ground they can cover before they're done.
I don't really like U2 so I can't compare them but I don't think that Chester's voice sounds like Bono's one. Although the WID video clip really made me think of the vertigo one.
i dont know about you but, i don't think Chester sounds like he has a Scottish/Irish Accent (forget which it is)
Chester the greatest vocalist of the decade Fine if it's your opinion, but on a technical level he is nowhere even close.
U2 are still wayyy overrated, but I don't think Linkin Park are as good as them. And I certainly don't think Chester is the best vocalist of our generation.
to me he does...well maybe cause ive only listened to about 3 of their songs and hated them either way, i have no clue
idk i don't really like U2 that much..maybe few songs like elavation, and the one w/ green day. Anyways mtv did a nice comparison on U2 on how WID was same set up desert look as one of U2's songs and the black n white cover. Anyways such a good thing LP is being compared to a great band like U2. -Have a nice day sir..
I dont like how LP is being compared to U2 so much. Not because of their success, but due to their sound and image. Its like they are turning into a band described as "trying to sound/look like U2"...when I would rather they be described as Linkin Park. But thats just my opinion, perhaps its a good thing? I feel on the scale of success/broadness of audience, LP has more to accomplish.
