This was something I didn't expect. I listened to the CD and followed along reading the lyrics in the CD jacket and was amazed at how many incorrect lyrics there was. Choruses were left out and weren't repeated, which is fine and this is true for most CD's. The "I"'s were always in lower case, this didn't bother me. I don't have time to name all of them (there's a lot.) but just wondered if this annoyed/surprised anyone else? Given up - 'I'm sick of Living' - CD. It sounds to me like 'I'm sick of Feeling' but I just don't hear 'Living.' In Pieces - 'there's truth..etc...doubt in your faith. What you built you lay to waste' Is included a second time before the second chorus where it is only said before the first. No More Sorrow - (My Favorite mistake) 'Your campaign's a disguise' it's 'Crusade' This last one makes me think that the lyrics were written from memory after one listening No More Sorrow - 'Thieves and hypocrites' sounds to me like 'Face it, hypocrite' I could be wrong on that though.
Yeah I was quite surprised too by the number of different lyrics!!! I think though you have it wrong on the No More Sorrow track....
No, chair is right, in NMS it's "your crusade's" not "campaign" It's really obvious when you listen to it.
I listen to it and I hare 'Face it, hypocrite' Even though I believe it should be 'face us, hypocrite'
A lot of CDs have mistakes. Just think, if they fix them in future prints of CDs, you have a collectable.
"Thieves and hypocrites" is correct. Choruses not being repeated in the lyrics has been a trait of every LP release, just look at Hybrid Theory and Meteora. The other mistake in No More Sorrow and the Given Up one are wrong though, it's "crusade" and "feeling," respectively.
Think about how long it took to put the book together and everything. I bet the lyrics used were from an earlier draft and words were changed on the fly while recording. If you want to see some really messed up lyrics, look in The Artist in the Ambulance by Thrice. There are entire sections that are different in several of the songs.
It is kind of interesting though. I just noticed the error in 'No More Sorrow' but was beat to the punch.
I haven't seen it. Well, maybe the 'i's' were for 'style'? Could you please post some pics? I know I'll get it soon, but still.
I think you folks need to listen to the words a bit harder. It dosnt even soudn like "and", i can hear where it could be theives, but its "Face it".
Actually after looking at the live version of it. I think we coudl all be right. I think the lyrics go like this.... Theives and hypocrites Face it, Hypocrite Theives and hypocrites After watching it over and over, im 100% sure that im right.
I hear theives and hypocrites 3 times in a row, not changing. In the lyrics book for Thrills, kills and sunday pills (i think) by grinspoon in the song hard act to follow the first verse is completely different and goes on about mellow, yellow and coldplay.
I don't see this as much of a big deal; slightly incorrect lyrics is pretty much par for the course for Linkin Park albums. Though I think Meteora was completely correct, the liner notes for Hybrid Theory seriously screwed up the lyrics of "Crawling" and a few others, if I'm not mistaken. What's the big deal? I hear "Thieves and Hypocrites" on NMS, though it is definitely "crusade".
I think these were the original lyrics to the songs (the beginning of the booklet says it was printed before the album was finished). I think that they spontaneously decided to change some words during the recording.
