McAfee is just as bad as Norton, so forget that one. I'd recommend either AVG (basic version is free) or NOD32.

I have both NOD32 and AVG, both are updating frequently and I think that the NOD32's firewall has ended all my AVG virus scans with the number: 0. :)

Its not a good idea to have 2 AV programs running at the same time, they tend to interfere with each other sometimes

I swear to god, from now on, you are to give me $100CAD every time you say that, it's getting WAY too predictable.

    NOD32.

not sure why eveyone hates mcafee, been using them for a long time and havent had any problems...if you do go with them, the best way is to get the bundle, beacuse all their products integrate quite well with each other

I've been using AVG for about 6 years and have always been protected. It's lightweight, easy to use and pretty much takes care of itself. Not only that, the free version uses the same definitions as the paid AVG so you can count on it for sure. Definately a must.

Well, for one, it's a HUGE waste of system resources. And second, there are conflicts. Working in computer support, I've seen it a million times....some moron thinks that installing every AV program out there will make their computer super-protected but it just causes problems.
