Alright, I'm going to be honest, and admit that I am somewhat disappointed with this album. Seriously, though, maybe I need a few more listens to get into it a little more, but I get to The Good Soldier, The Beginning of the End, and Capital G, and then the album is pretty much over for me. I can't get attached to really any of the other songs. Even God Given, one that seems to be a favorite to many, isn't holding me as much as a lot of other NIN songs have in the past. I really really love the concept to this album, and I've really enjoyed following the story, but, for some reason, I'm finding the story and the websites more interesting than the music itself. Four songs that are hooking me out of 16 isn't good. I guess I really liked the leaked tracks, but i think I may have overplayed them. My Violent Heart is interesting, but I've become tired of it. Me, I'm Not is excellent, but for some reason I'm having a hard time even corresponding it with the album when I think about it. Overall, this album kind of disappointed me. It's still amazing, but I definitely can't say it's the most amazing NIN album yet, and I sure am hoping the next is better.
6 days. oh my lawd. those new sites might go up on the 17th too, so. perhaps hints for the new album in 08. chyea.
this is an awesome album that takes a few listens to grow on you like any great album. i love the feel of this album, most songs have an enchanting eeriness to them. i put them close to this order. the good soldier capital g meet your master in this twilight the great destroyer the greater good the warning this is the beginning suvivalism vessel zero sum me, im not hyperpower!
To me it's one of those great albums where on the first listen, I thought 'Holy crap this is badass.'
I'm new to this thread, and I'm a little bit confused. I read the first couple of pages, but still don't get it. Can somebody explain to me what all the websites are about, and what the story or theme to this album is? Thanks.
You're asking one human being to describe this entire new world? That's impossible. Try this: http://www.ninwiki.com/Main_Page
you can thank ETS for that Hot Topic is giving away/selling patches with the Year Zero album on the 17th. they have it there for like, 10 bucks. shawiiing.
I wonder how much time and work the band had to put into all of this; creating the this imaginary world and all these events.
TR and Rob Sheridan sat down and made the basic outline of the story. Then they gave it to 42 entertainment [remeber I love bees?] and they took it from there
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9f/Nine_inch_nails_year_zero_cd_face.jpg The digipak version of Year Zero features a thermo-chrome heat-sensitive CD face. Appearing mostly black (sans the title), when heated the disc turns mostly white, hiding the title and revealing lines, blocks, the copyright notice and a series of zeroes and ones. Assembled together, the sequence is: 0110010101111000011101000110010101110010011011010110100101101110011000010110110000101 110011011100110010101110100. The zeroes and ones appear to be a binary sequence, which translates to be "exterminal.net", a website which is up, but is currently not operational, which it may become with the US release of the album. That's awesome.
So let me get this straight. I put the black cd into my cd player, let it play for a bit, and it comes out white? That's fucking awesome!
its a little different for me. sometimes it takes me a few times to hear it to appreciate what i'm listening to. a good example of this is Tool. maybe it's just me.
Yeah, that's how I am. There's certain cds that grip you on the first listen, and other deeper ones that take a little longer. I was the same way with 'The Fragile' and 'The Downward Spiral'.
