As we all know, the movie Grindhouse is coming out here on April 6th (this coming Friday actually) and I wanted to know who was pumped for it. Actually, IGN.com just posted one of the fake trailers for between the movie which is Eli Roth's one called Thanksgiving which is basically a spoof on all of the holiday based slasher movies that came out in the 80's and I have to tell you, it's fucking gruesome as all hell. I would post it here if I could, but I don't want to break any rules, so just go over to http://www.movies.ign.com and find it for yourself. WARNING: If you do decide to view the trailer, do note that it is not for the faint of heart. I mean, there's graphic violence, nudity, barfing...nudity that causes violence and a scene which could do for trampolines what Jaws did for swimming pools. ENJOY!
The site doesn't load for me. But anyway, it looks like one of those over-the-top type of movies. I definitely want to see it.
In terms of new Quentin Tarantino I'd rather see Inglorious Bastards but this looks great all the same.
I saw a small trailer of it on Fuse and just those couple of seconds it was pretty gory. I heard the movie is so graphic and outrageous for a major Hollywood studio, their cutting out like 20 seconds worth of footage because of the NC17 rating. Which is weak but ill probably end up getting the unrated version once it comes out.
It's not that I can't stand his movies, it's just that his movies are geared towards people like me. I don't like him because his movies are over the top, there is nothing wrong with that because that is his style. I just like realistic movies and that's why I never really liked anything he has made.
Yeah, his movies are pretty over-the-top. Him and Eli Roth like to go over the top and push the envelope.
Just saw Grindhouse last night, and it was just plain amazing. It was really unlike any moviegoing experience I've ever had in my life (except the asshole behind me kicking my chair the entire time, but that's to be expected). Both movies were awesome, though I liked Death Proof a little better. DP started off slow but definitely picked up and had some amazing car chase scenes.
I saw Grindhouse today at noon and thought it was absolutely awesome. I liked Planet Terror a hell of a lot more than Death Proof and thought the acting in both films was phenomenal. I really thought that the plot in Planet Terror was better written without a doubt and the action was pretty much non-stop, whereas Death Proof was very conversation based for the first half until the action finally picked up.
Oh man, I saw Grindhouse yesterday and I absolutely loved it! I love 70's movies, especially the over-the-top films of that era (Sonny Chiba/Street Fighter, anyone? Zatoichi? ) and it was awesome to see that beefed up with modern day cinematic techniques. I love how Planet Terror was so action packed while Death Proof was more conversation-based. Although the momentum was a little lackluster in Death Proof, after watching everything, and I mean fake trailers and all with it, I felt overall that it was well balanced. I definitely don't see this being a favorite for many, though. It's Tarantino/Rodriguez after all, and you know those two go balls to the wall with their material. Not to mention Eli Roth and Zombie are lending their sick visions to this? Man, that's a horror fan's dream! I've got to say, this was one of the first movies in a long time that I've felt I got my money's worth. It might be because it was two movies in one with a lot of cool fake trailers between, but I'm pretty sure it was because the entire experience was just so kick ass.
I'm so stoked to see these movies! Can't wait. I'll have to wait for the DVD release, though because of the releasing it in two parts... Still, it's going to be the most awesome movie of the year, I think. That trailer was so sick! Jumping on our trampoline will never be the same again, I'm afraid.
Apparently the two films might be shown separately soon because they aren't doing well enough in the box office together.
Yeah, which is a stupid move. It defeats the whole purpose of the movie. While it'd bring them more money in the long run, it would completely ruin the experience. The mistake was not releasing them together, it was releasing them on Easter weekend when people are with their families, trying to find a movie to go see. Hence why Blades of Glory, Are We Done Yet, and Meet the Robinsons beat out Grindhouse in the box office.
