New Ringtone Picks Up Where We Left Off

I'm really having a hard time deciding if I think he'll be contributing really anything vocally or not. I really enjoy his rapping, too, but.. honestly, I wouldn't care if he barely makes a sound vocally on here.

 

I disagree, especially considering they don't choose the singles. While this song sounds more akin to Numb in structure, I think Mike will have more influence on this album than any other. My hope is that they try mergining the styles together effectively, e.g. Easier to Run and Somewhere I Belong.

 

I really hope he steps up his raps a bit. Even Fort Minor's weren't too amazing, in my opinion.

Wasnt One Step Closer thier first single? Mike did not have a vocal part on that if I remember correctly.

I really hope that Mike has a big part on this album. Without rap, Linkin Park would not be the same. I also hope that Mike sings a little bit on this album. Wasnt he the one singing the chorus in Believe Me? If he was, then he sounded great there, and it would be interesting to hear him sing on the album. Anyway, I really like the na na na's in the background.

 

This reminds me if how they showed Mike "sing" a few of Chester's lines in the Numb video at the end.

 

With the vintage beats it might be The Rising Tied Part II.

About the lyrical improvement, though, wasn't that the purpose of Fort Minor? Wasn't he supposed to feel less restrained and free to do whatever he wanted? Again, I wasn't even very impressed with his lyrics on there.

Lyrics are a big thing for me in music. Lyrics and vocals sometimes outweigh the actual instrumentation. I really hope they're not disappointing.

I think Mike is doing 3 things in this song :

Piano Intro : He's playing the intro we already know.
Chorus : He's playing the rythm guitar.
Last Chorus [We suppose] : He's doing background vocals

So I quote what Brad said to Billboard :

'' Some songs, Mike is literally moving back and forth between an acoustic guitar, an organ, an electric guitar, and singing ''

I think one of those songs is 'What I've Done'.

i was hoping mike rapping would be more like what he did on the fort minor mix tape we major, he had some sick rhymes on some of those songs so if he does something like that on his new album then added with the whole new sound of linkin park this would be an amazing album

 

Hmm.. Yeah, I agree. The mixtape's rhymes were a lot better, I think.

 

mixtapes tend to feature an emcee's better lyrics, because they water down their official release material to be more fan friendly with a mainstream audience. while mike's lyrics weren't spectacular on the rising tied, i felt they were still good. what i've always respected about mike is that he may not be the greatest lyricist, but he's great at getting his messages across with a varied vocabulary and a creative punchline here and there. the rhyming may be simplistic at time, but he can be complex if he wants to. hopefully this album will feature more of his creativity and versatility.

 

the "na na na/no no no" guy was Trent Reznor.. again.

 

Like they do in Crawling and Papercut too.
