So....apparently KROQ is full of crap.

That's what Mike Shinoda pretty much said in a recent post on the Linkin Park message boards, where he wrote:

"I saw that thread about some of you guys waiting for a premier of the song yesterday...I don't know how that rumor really started, but I wanted you to know the real date to look forward to!

On APRIL 2nd, we will be premiering the single for What I've Done.
    "

Mike also went on in his next sentence to shed some very interesting news:

"...you will also get your first look at the album cover, and the song will be up on iTunes and other music stores soon after."

Looks like April 2nd, as originally thought, will be the official, band-sanctioned release of the new single and album cover. The band usually has alot of security to protect their music around this time of an album's release, so don't be surprised if this holds up. Then again, the power of the internet community has surprised many before. Keep your eyes on the news page.

Why KROQ would be advertising the World Premiere of the new Linkin Park single two weeks in advance is beyond many of us.

Feel free to e-mail your inquiries to KROQ here.

    Thanks to heshboy and Hybridsoldier!

I find it weird that they'd promise to air it last night like it was said that they did.

However.. how much control does Mike have over when singles get sent out and everything? Don't most singles get premiered before they're actually supposed to be?

And he says Linkinpark.com is reliable, which, as of recently(with telling us that we'd have a new LPTV episode on Thursday), I've disagreed with.

I was wondering what would happen if KROQ aired the song early. Couldn't they have gotten into some legal trouble for airing the song early? I thought maybe they could so maybe thats why they didn't air it. Oh well it doesn't matter now. But curiosity kills the cat.

I'm starting to dislike these threads about the single and KROQ because they are basically the same thing over again.
The next news i should be seeing is new single and album cover available! yay! good nooz.!!

Hell no! Don't even speak of that publicity-stunt-pulling radio station!:p

Soo..this means that the single cover we already have seen might be a fake after all...even if I doubt it..:hmm: ;)

I can't begin to comprehend what KROQ was thinking. Releasing a song before the street date is illegal.
I've been to a couple midnight sales for LP albums before and they had to wait until exactly midnight to sell it.

Oh well. We could sit around and send emails to KROQ or simply go with the original plan of waiting for it to come out on April 2nd. I'm up for the latter.

If we could revv up a time machine and go forward 9 days, don't you think we would?

We're just saying that Mike denounced KROQ's claims and that new album artwork would be released along with the single on the 2nd, something that hadn't been said on the news page before.

It's not constructive criticism if what you're suggesting is impossible to do.

I don't think there are street dates on radio singles, are there?

the physical CD and CD single have street dates and can get fined if you buy them..... but to play the song on a radio, i'm not sure...

Yeah but you forgot the fact LP loves KROQ and KROQ loves LP....KROQ world premiered Somewhere I Belong a few days before the street date/radio date :) they usually get most new LP first ;)

I really hope LP owned KROQ on this one and won't let them play it early. I wanna wait until April 2 on this one.

I did remember that it was KROQ that first played Somewhere I Belong. You're right though. I forgot that it was earlier.
