I have to thank Arsenal for taking Spurs just that extra mile into extra time ahead of our game with them on Sunday. Brilliant, their morale is sure to be down too.
My local team St Johnstone were in the CIS cup semis last night (our carling cup) against premier league side Hibernian, we played absolutely superb, ran our hearts out and gave it all, but they were too good for us in the end, they beat us 3-1 after ET, cant really take the 3rd into it as it was at the last second and we had everyone up the pitch, and even 2-1 dosnt tell the true story
doesnt it always, anyway as a semi-Hibs fan, i have to say, we're doing better then i expected after we sold Riodorn...
Did you watch the game, without being bias, ill quote other hibs fans in saying 'the worst hibs performance in years' I like hibs myself, their style is refreshing and they always have a go at the old firm, 2 things i admire, but their superb one week, and rotton the next, they need a bit of consistancy
they have decent players too be honest and yeah they could really have a title tilt if they had more cash and more consistency and yeah that performancewas dreadful...
England (squad): Robinson (Tottenham), Foster (Watford), Kirkland (Wigan); Gary Neville (Man Utd), Phil Neville (Everton), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Woodgate (Middlesbrough), Bridge (Chelsea), Terry (Chelsea), Carragher (Liverpool), Dawson (Tottenham), Richards (Man City); Lennon (Tottenham), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Carrick (Man Utd), Downing (Midd'boro), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea), Parker (Newcastle), Lampard (Chelsea), Barry (Aston Villa), Barton (Man City), Jenas (Tottenham), Dyer (Newcastle); Rooney (Man Utd), Crouch (Liverpool), Defoe (Tottenham), Johnson (Everton). Spain (squad): Reina (Liverpool), Casillas (Real Madrid); Lopez (Atletico Madrid), Ibanez (Atletico Madrid), Puyol (Barcelona), Capdevila (Deportivo La Coruna), Ramos (Real Madrid), Navarro (Sevilla); Fabregas (Arsenal), Iniesta (Barcelona), Xavi (Barcelona), Lopez (Celta Vigo), Alonso (Liverpool), Albelda (Valencia), David (Valencia); Torres (Atletico Madrid), Arizmendi (Deportivo La Coruna), Angulo (Valencia) , Morientes (Valencia), Villa (Valencia). I'd be so happy now if I were Gareth Barry. Having said that, our attacking options don't look so great but then that's been the case for a while.
I think David James should have been number one keeper and if not then atleast in the squad. He's been on the top of his form this season whereas Robinson is having quite a bad season. Why Kirkland is in there I haven't got a clue and I also think Sol Campbell should have been given a recall aswell. Aside from that Here's my revised end of season table prediction and my ultimate fantasy team: Table Prediction: 1. Manchester United 2. Liverpool 3. Chelsea 4. Arsenal 5. Bolton 6. Portsmouth 7. Everton 8. Reading 9. Tottenham 10. Aston Villa 11. Newcastle 12. Blackburn 13. Manchester City 14. Middlesbrough 15. Fulham 16. Sheffield United 17. West Ham 18. Charlton 19. Wigan 20. Watford Fantasy Team: Gianluigi Buffon Dani Alves, John Terry, Alessandro Nesta, Ashley Cole Kaka, Cesc Fabregas, Patrick Vieira, Steven Gerrard, Ronaldinho Thierry Henry Subs: Regerio Ceni, William Gallas, Andres D'Allesandro, Andres Iniesta, Fernando Torres
who are you trying to kid, i dont think it would be a smart move to throw him in at the deep end...on a more positive note is that several younger players and GB are now getting the chance they deserve...
Why wasn't Scott Carson selected then? Kirkland has been absolutely hopeless this season, Carson is being scouted by Arsenal. Is anyone in that squad even 30 yet? It can't just be about giving youngsters a chance, experience is always needed no matter what.
Aston Villa - West Ham U. 1 Blackburn R. - Sheffield U. 1 Charlton Athletic - Chelsea 2 Fulham - Newcastle U. X2 Manchester C. - Reading 1X Watford - Bolton W. 2 Wigan Athletic - Portsmouth 2
but still, i wouldnt throw him in against Spain, maybe against some other team, but definetly not spain... johnny howson scored wow and then we let it slip again...into League One we go
Four fucking Nil. Tottenham are shit, and we are brilliant. I think the trophy is coming home...dare I say it
This might sound strange coming from a Gunners fan but I don't think 4-0 was a just scoreline. Ronaldo blatently dived to win the penalty and from there onwards Spurs lost faith. I think you'll all agree with my recent criticism of Paul Robinson after yesterdays performance though. EDIT: On a side note, the new England kit looks fucking nice. The goalkeeper shirt looks even better. I may have to purchase both.
On the replay It looked like Malbranque stepped on his foot, but I haven't seen it again since then. And yes Robinson is a very average keeper. McClaren should give Ben Foster a run, he has great potential.
Malbranque did put out a foot but moved it before it made any contact at all with Ronaldo. And I think Scott Carson probably deserves a call up to the senior squad more then Ben Foster. But then again I would have preferred if David James was called up to be number one instead.
David James was a accident waiting to happen earlier in his career, but he seems to be much more consistant and reliable now. He's looked better than Robinson this season definately.
