The more I look at it, the more I dislike this list. I love the solo in Hendrix's "All Along The Watchtower". He should have more songs on the list and be higher ranked. Child in Time should definitely be higher. And would I be crucified if I said 'Comfortably Numb' shouldn't be #1 and GnR shouldn't be on the list at all? Gah. Sweet Child of Mine being on this list is bad enough, but #2!!!!???

And it's like this list was so afraid to piss old people off that it ignored everything new(er).

I think Sweet Child O' Mine should be number one actualy. The guitar solo in that is probably the best IMO no quiestion.

I think Bark at the Moon by Ozzy has a better solo than No More Tears, honestly. Although I know I'm gonna get some death stares for implying that Jake E. Lee is a better guitar player than Zakk Wylde. Randy Rhoads was better than both of them though.

I'd say that's going to far.
I could be on that list if it was top 100 air guitarists.
No one beats me at that.
    NO ONE!

It's the best solo in my opinion. I'm sure you and others probably think there are better solos but for me it's the best.

    What is a good solo?

In the end it comes down to opinion.

This isn't aimed at you or anyone in particular, but this is just the writers opinion. Nothing more.

A good solo fits into the context of the song while simultaneously pushing the song to the next level. Technical mastery isn't the biggest necessity for a good solo. Take the solo at the end of Psycho by System of a Down for example. It's not really that hard, I'd been playing guitar for maybe a year by the time I learned how to play it. But listening to the song, it creates this HUGE sound that just grabs at you by the end of it. It's nothing special from a playing standpoint, but it's still a good solo in the context of the song.

I havent heard any of those songs, but the best solo ive probably ever heard was in master of puppets, or The Thing that should not be.
