I know this applies to all of the social media, but it’s insane that kind of misinformation that can be so easily spread on the platform. There’s been many a time where my sister has been telling me something that’s obviously untrue and insane. every time, it’s something she heard about on TikTok.
This is exactly what I say as well and why I avoid it. It spreads innocuous and harmless information as well as extremely dangerous and divisive stuff. And makes everyone less informed in the process. I've had people show me so many of those stupid "life hack" videos that just contain blatantly false information. And people just eat it up and regurgitate that crap. Anyway, unpopular opinion. I don't like Sempiternal that much. I don't understand the love for the album. Like a few songs but I think the album before was stronger.
Mike would probably be of that opinion too, at least regarding By Myself I actually like that song quite a bit. By Myself electronic elements make it stand out, it reminds me of some 90's ambient music. Also a big fan of the chorus, Chester vocals are pretty strong in there.
It's not a terrible song. But Mike would be right. Personally I think the base elements of the verses are nice, but everything added between the Sad demo and its final form just feels kinda run of the mill for me. The riff doesn't do it for me, nor do the lyrics, nor the structure of the vocals. Runaway has a bounce to it and some variety that makes me like it. The backbeat drumming throughout, combined with the sampled drum loop, make it groovy and rhythmically interesting to me. Meanwhile, outside of the verse sample loop, nothing really grabs me with By Myself.
As someone who loves Star Wars, I could not agree more. I say perpetually. Let the franchise be and stop bludgeoning it to death milking it for content! Turn all those anthology project ideas in the pipeline into original stories with original characters!
I love Star Wars too, it used to be special. The hype for TFA was unlike any other hype I experienced for a movie release. But now after shite like Book of Bobs, Mandalorian season 3, Rise of Skywalker and Acolyte, the series feels like a joke, just a mindless mass of content designed to distract us from how shit everything is. It isn't special anymore, or fun. Also, there's just too much of it.
I will never call this show anything else now. We are kindred spirits. Exactly. There's something inspiring and magical about the original trilogy to me, especially A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. But it feels more and more like they want to ruin it and Lucas' vision by commoditizing the everloving shit out of the franchise. I liked Andor a lot, but even that burns me up knowing that such a well-written show and idea may not have even been greenlit in this age of mega-franchising. It didn't have to be from Star Wars. It was, and it was actually really really good, but still, the bigger question remains about what that says about the state of audiovisual art. Maybe I would feel differently if there weren't as many spinoff series, and the only series we had were the two Clone Wars ones, The Mandalorian maybe, and Andor. All that to say, you are preaching to the choir here. The Empire Strikes Back is one of my favorite films ever, and the score by John Williams is my favorite film score definitively.
