I have to disagree with you on that one, I think Paramore became worse when they started ditching the pop-punk sound, which started in the self-titled a little bit, but still had songs I liked like Ain't It Fun, Daydreaming and Now, even the poppier Still Into You was good for me, but I see them getting no closer to the level of Brand New Eyes, that one is amazing from start to finish. About the new one. I listened to the singles and first I said that's shit and after some listens I now say ok, but when I listened to the other songs, hell no, I feel they need to have all members and leave behind all the shit they've been through so that they can sound more consistent. With Green Day I never thought they were a consistent band, they have some really good singles and then kinda drift away in the rest of the songs of each record. On the other hand, if talking about punk artists I have to mention Avril Lavigne and say ok, she opened the door for Paramore in terms of style and all that, but she failed when she tried to go almost full punk in the album The Best Damn Thing and sounded much better when she shifted to a more pop-rock sound in Goodbye Lullaby.
OKAY I'M TRIGGERED. First off, Dude Ranch is NOT an embarrassment! Do you even listen to straight up Punk music? Most of that album sans Dammit isn't pop punk but more straight up punk and they did a FABTASTIC job at tackling the genre. Second off, If by evolution you mean 'California' you are sooooo wrong. Anything post Dogs Eating Dogs is an ABOMINATION to the music industry. Straight down right abomination. Third, new Fall out Boy is absolutely trash and I know a lot of people agree. Fall Out Boy was 100000000000x better as a Pop Punk band. Infinity on High is a decent album. You act like Pop Punk is an abomination in general and I'm sure that's largely in part of the general attacking on the genre and not based on actually listening to new bands in the genre who actually make great music. I highly suggest diving into the genre because I'm sure you would find something you actually like. Recommendations: Spraynard, Man Overboard, Handguns, The Story So Far, Real Friends, State Champs, Seaway, With Confidence, Neck Deep (Generic but amazing), With Confidence, As It Is (first album especially), This Wild Life (Accounting Pop Punk), Knuckle Puck, WSTR, Trophy Eyes, Run2Cover, Marianas Trench, and Major League. These are just newer bands and just scratching the surfice. People who bash genres or seem like they dislike genres as a whole I will never understand because I know for a fact of you look hard enough you will find at least one genre you like. I know people who only listen to rap music but love Country Artists Thomas Rhett and Florida Georgia Line. And that's just one example. I know other people who only listen to rap but also like Tame Impala. Venture out and you will find something. And to Sum 41, their older stuff was better, yes. But a lot of bands older stuff is better, I mean we are on a Linkin Park sitell after all
Man Overboard is the definition of cringeworthy. I got one of their albums for free and it's abominable. State Champs sucks. Knuckle Puck is also an embarrassment. Fall Out Boy was good as pop-punk band, I'll give them that. But they sounded even better starting with Folie a Deux and onwards.
I genuinely can't listen to pop punk but that's just me. My brother listens to it in the car and it gives me a headache. Even as a kid I didn't like it. But I'm not against anyone who enjoys the genre, personally. If so, I would've had to destroy my brother's cds a long ass time ago.
Why not? Last 2 records she wasn't but in the first 3 she was, she was fully pop-punk in The Best Damn Thing, but that just didn't work for her.
Spoken like a true Linkin Park fan Does this make us counterculture rebels with the real unpopular opinions?
Her first 3 albums and last album were Pop Punk What would you call it? Because it's not Pop Pink and it's not Rock.....
Early Blink is definitely Punk imo. Though The Descendents are way better than Blink (and most modern Pop Punk) anyway. They are practically the godfathers of Pop Punk. Even Blink cite them as their main influence!
Not necessarily an "unpopular" opinion, but something a bit overlooked. The cello is an absolutely gorgeous instrument that doesn't get nearily the credit it deserves by the mainstream public.
Timberlake is not a top 10 artist all-time neither in terms of sales nor in terms of critical acclaim. He's sold more records with NSYNC than as a solo artist.
