I know it's not, for me it is, though. I think LP perfected Limp Bizkit's style so much, have a better DJ, better rapper, better singer, much better band in general.
They have one or two jams, but don't work as a band, they were one of the first nu-metal bands so that might be why they were so successful before LP.
Same! The radio station I listen to plays some throwback stuff and it's just a reminder that pop music is soooo much better now than it was 10 years ago, IMO.
More appealing I can say, but not better, at least I enjoyed pop more back in the day than nowadays, probably that's because one of the first pop acts of this decade was Justin Bieber and, as I hated and still hate him, I hated all the others as well because their songs were so like Justin Bieber's songs, catchy but without a good lyrical content and meaning to back them up. Artists do it nowadays mostly to make money, which is obviously a big part of music, but they forget to put out something people can relate to. People just sing-along to that shit just because the lyrics are easy, not because they relate to the meaning of it or because the song has helped them through hard times.
Yes especially the production! recently I heard Usher's Yeah! and it sounded sooo dated, it so poorly produced compared to the new shit.
That's probably a product of time. What we hear now sounds current but could come to sound dated years from now. Hell, there are a couple of songs that are really recent which sound dated already, like the new David Guetta single that sounds like it's from 2012 or something But, on the whole, I like the mainstream stuff that's coming out nowadays. I like that there's such variety, which is only growing, and how increased accessibility has changed (and continues to change) the way we listen to and experience music on so many levels. Electro-pop and R&B used to be so awful that there was room for nu-metal to do well.
Pretty much every pop-punk band that reinvented themselves sounded infinitely better after ditching the shitty pop-punk sound. Those that didn't have fallen into irrelevance because they're nothing but a niche. For better reinvented bands see: Fall Out Boy, blink-182, Paramore (especially the latter two, Riot! and Dude Ranch are just embarrassing), etc. For bands that stuck to pop-punk and still sound like shit see: Sum 41, All Time Low, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
