Save maybe Babymetal, fair enough. All of them are classics and excellent in their own way. I love them all. But still Metallica (at least early) is easily just as good imo.
The Police are the best of the "Legendary" bands. While they are considered great by lots of people, I still feel they are underrated because people don't talk about them as nearly as much as other legendary bands.
Imo not the best but definitely great and very influential. They made a lot of my favorite albums. Maybe one of the best from their era, at least
And this is what I feel lots of people would say, which is why I consider my opinion unpopular. I love their music man. Synchronicity and Regatta De Blanc are two of my favorite albums of all time. They are up there with The Who and Rush for me when it comes to classic music, those are probably my favorite 3 classic bands.
If we're going to talk about overrated, bad Metal bands, Slayer is at the top of that last. The Metallica hate from Blake is real blindinding really. Like, wut? It's like you haven't even heard their music. They've literally put out some of the best Metal records of all time in Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. #Triggered
Early Slayer wasn't bad. (South, Raining etc. ...) But nowadays they always put out the same boring cliched shit. I don't even bother anymore.
THE POLICE! <3 I share your opinion and mentioned that I think such at work and got attacked by everyone.
I'm pretty sure it's just me, but I really don't get the appeal of endless screaming in songs or even songs where vocals are only streaming. I can't even understand the words and it comes off as too #edgy for edge's sake.
I know, I once stated on here that I've never really liked (or maybe got the appeal of) Megadeth (save Holy Wars) It was probably mostly because of Dave's vocals and me being a little Metallica fanboy After giving their classic albums a thorough listen, I kinda have to retract my earlier statement. I'm still not 100% sold on his vocals, but the drumming and the riffs are insane. My Big Four ranking: Metallica > Megadeth > Anthrax > Slayer (I like some of their early stuff, but in general they're the most repetitive and boring of the 4)
This one may be very unpopular, but honestly I like none those old school metal bands , except for one or two more famous songs. I honestly prefer Symphonic Metal/ Symphonic Death Metal, Symphonic Power Metal, Gothic Metal and some Melodic Death Metal. All bands in those subgenres are more powerful and growl-contaning than all those old school ones.
The main thing you need to understand is that most people who listen to that kind of music don't listen to it for the lyrics or the vocals. I listen to Metal music for the aggressive adrenaline it gives, and the usually dense, well thought out instrumentation. I couldn't be bothered to what the vocals sound like, or what the lyrics are saying. As long as they don't get in the way of the experience of the music.
But for me, the vocals are just so off putting and quite honestly ruins the music for me. Probably doesn't help that I'm not the biggest of big, heavy guitars and drums in a song too Tbh, that adrenaline rush you talk about doesn't really matter to me at all, and I don't really value it in the music I listen to.
