I caved and heard the song. I really liked it.
For me it's Battle Symphony = Talking to myself > Good Goodbye > Heavy.

You know, I am one of those guys who thinks the first single should have been any of these 3 songs instead of 'Heavy'. But then you look at all the attention LP got because of how controversial the song became, you realize that it was probably a planned choice by them.
Heck, the song is currently at no. 16 in the US itunes. It hasn't been outside the US top 35 in over a month. For a song a lot of the fanbase seems to hate, it is seriously managing to hold onto listeners.

I've realized the reason I really like this song as opposed to the others is that it doesn't sound like it was written specifically to mimic a certain style or trend.

While the other songs are full to the brim with genre references, this sounds like a more natural evolution.

    I like.

My sentiments as well. It's peppered with 'dancey' elements like the rest, but it sounds like something that I could see them putting out in 2007 or 2012.

i guess battle symphony isn't my favourite anymore lol.

I love Brad's tone on this song, i'm a sucker for a good strat. Hopefully there's more where that came from, though i wouldn't be mad at more synths either... is it may 19th yet?

Maybe they just released the tracks that were the most mainstream (which they pretty much ALWAYS do). Hopefully they've saved the best for the album itself :3 10 songs is gonna be tough, since we've already heard half the album. 5 more to go. There's bound to be another one or even two in there we won't like.

Wish there was a bonus track like minutes to midnight.

I'm optimistic about the studio version, but I have a feeling a lot of people will be disappointed by the sound of it. Considering how raw/rock Battle Symphony sounds live compared to the studio version, I won't have my hopes up for the studio version having that rock sound that the live version does.

But yeah, I like the song and if it does sound like I expect it too on the album I think it'll be a great one. Definitely gives off those indie rock vibes, which is something I've wanted from them for a long time.

Dont hate it but is is pretty damn repetitive. Also, Mike's comment that no one has heard it before is a blatant lie. xD.

Because here he is playing it months ago.

An argument could be made that 'an acoustic rendtion doesn't count, but... I mean that's at least 1/3 of Linkin Park playing the song.

It is annoying how these songs don't evolve over time. That's what made ATS the best, absolutely every song had an ending section unique from the rest of the song instead of just one last chorus.

    These songs are all

    Verse 1

First chorus which is quiet and builds up

    Verse 2

    Second chorus is loud

Bridge which is a loud version of the pre chorus or simple instrumental section

    Super quiet chorus

    ONE LAST LOUD CHORUS

    The end.
They do it so fucking much.

The songs are good but you hear it all in the first minute of each song. Even songs like Final Masquerade follow this structure.

Good Goodbye was different at least. Starting on the chorus and 3 unique verses(4 if you count Mike's second live one).

Even if you were to disregard the fact that they played it acoustic live at a private Warner Bros event, it is still a blatant lie as they as the creators of the song have most assuredly heard it before now. Either way, it is an inaccurate comment, whether within the context of anyone hearing it in a live setting in any form, or hearing it completely in private during the creation process, Mike's comment was "This is the first time anyone has Ever heard this song before", ergo it was a blatant lie.

Anyway, my comment was just meant to be a silly quip, it was not meant to start a serious argument whether or not Sinoda was being genuinely deceitful.

I don't need every song to change dramatically like on ATS (although I'd like that), but I just wish these new songs had some sort of progression. Linkin Park's never been great at doing that to be fair (bar ATS and a handful of other songs), but it's really the only thing about the band that I really, really dislike. As in, I genuinely think the first 1:30 of Heavy is some of the most beautiful, soothing music they've ever put out, but the song's so damn repetitive and 1-dimemsional after that.

Yeah, Heavy is gorgeous then it just drags on even though it's not even 3 mins long. It could use some synth melody section or something to end.
