If someone isn't a fan of the sound of Heavy, that's totally fine. You don't have to like the song, or even the album for that matter. However, listen to the full song first before you decide on how you feel. Let's give it a fair chance.
A great interview about the new album! Mike was very genuine and honest in his answers, and seemed to stay away from "safe" responses that he can sometimes give. One More Light sounds like it will be a very special song for LP. Being the first title track the band has chosen (and keeping in mind the history of the band and deciding on album titles), I am really looking forward to hearing this song. In terms of Mike and the rapping or lackthereof: if it doesn't fit on the record, it doesn't fit. Based on his description, this album sounds like the perfect showcase for vocal ability. Obviously Chester will shine, but we should give Mike a chance, too. Who knows? Maybe we will hear Dave or Brad or Joe singing vocals? May 19th is now confirmed as the release date. Now how about some NA tour dates, LP!
I think it's safe to say that gang vocals work pretty well for the band, but I would be going crazy if LP does what they did with Brad on UIB, it surely was a good choice and it brought some fresh air to the album overall. Plus I can't resist the idea of Mike and Chester singing together a new time. Their voices blend together so good !
I actually enjoyed that interview. No #catchphrases (see: visceral, firecracker, toolbox), just talking about random shit and not random shit. Probably has me more hyped for the album than some of the teasers we've been getting.
Fudge! May 19th is too long! I wanted it to come out while I was still in school haha. And dang, it's my pet peeve when the album name is just a song name, but that's ok. I didn't expect that from them.
The last time I've been here was in 2014.. nice to still see all the people that were on here back then as well! My opinion: I don't really enjoy the pop sound of "Heavy" at all, but I'm sure that the album will have some tracks for everyone. I'm a Death Metal fan and LP is basically the only "soft" band I listen to, so this will be the first pop album I've ever bought (if it's REALLY going to be a pop album) Linkin Park will always get my support, even if they make stuff I don't enjoy. PS: Mike is doing a livestream on Instagram right now (LP account)
I'm not sure I dig the idea of the full album being in the same vein of Heavy, at least from what we've heard so far.
Mike just mentioned on Instagram that they worked on the album for 1 & a half years and all that work is packed into about 10 songs, so I assume there is an interlude or two in the album somewhere.
It's long when you have lack of good albums reason that you are interest in and also expected the album to come out in March, April at the latest. So basically I set myself up for failure
