Not gonna lie I'm really relieved about this. I really wanted them to have at least a year off or more in making the best album or to even rest from music. I'm unsure what 2017 LP brings though, since by now they're essentially a legacy act now (they were I think one of the few early 2000s rock bands who managed to score Top 40 songs until the THP era).

Also THP was the first LP album not to have any song charting in the Hot 100 and not to have a #1 song from Alternative Songs. :(

I never understood why people obsess over charting if they enjoy the music. It's a nice bonus, but if you liked the album, who gives a shit how it charter or if those knuckleheads from the Grammy's decided to give it an award?

It's just watching trends. It gives you a bit of an idea about what's succeeding and what isn't, where mainstream music is now, and where it might head in the future.

Obviously, it's not essential to enjoying music unless you're just that shallow, but it's always fun to see any of your favourites top the Hot 100 or get the most streams on Spotify in a week

Different strokes for different folks. Personally, for me, I love chart watching when new albums/singles are released. It's half the fun to tune in every day to watch it climb, and hopefully score another #1. Besides, they are 2nd all time for most Alternative #1's so I would love to see them achieve the #1 spot someday. If you aren't interested in charts, cool, but I always see way too many fans putting down people who actually are passionate and care about this sort of thing. I love the music itself just as much as you or anyone else, but the success of the band is an important aspect of it to me. For example, while I did enjoy THP, I was disappointed by its charting performance, thus that album cycle wasn't quite as fun for me. You might call me ridiculous and that's fine, but it's still something i'll always enjoy and will remain passionate about being interested in.

I don't bother paying attention to LP and how they do commercially. Generally, I just try to avoid thinking about them in that context altogether

So this just happened to show up in my Facebook Newsfeed. Dustin Bates is the singer/songwriter for Starset. There is a possibility that Starset will open for Linkin Park on the inevitable upcoming tour. My two favorite bands. I can dream, can't I?

That will be the best fucking tour of the year (if it is indeed this year's NA tour)

By no means me pointing this out is anything official or a sort or announcement, it's merely me reading into something that might not mean anything at all, but is definitely some major wishful thinking!

I've always wondered the legality of using samples from Tasty Gas Station Breaks from the Orient in original compositions. Just having some of those samples around leads them to being used in some personal projects

Please... stop posting this random shit in LP Random Chat. Seriously, is annoying as hell. Could you just stop and act normal for once? Damn...

I've been on a buying streak with LPU releases. I now own LPU 9-16, and it's quite an impressive collection of demos, b-sides, unreleased tracks, and more.
I think I may have a CD of LPU 7, which was given to me by a friend from college, who received it from someone else previously.
Seriously, who else/what other band releases so much content that never makes it to an official studio release? Us LP fans have it really good!

Lastly, does anyone else here dig "It's Goin' Down" by the X-Ecutioners, if only because of M. Shinoda's fire in that song? I just purchased that over the weekend, and can't believe how symbolic and raw Mike used to be back then, especially compared to his more "grounded" raps these days.

It's Going Down is soooo dope. I'm seriously 1997-2002 Mike's biggest fan here probably. Love his metaphorical, imagery driven conscious and battle rap style. I mean this dude got Xero, HT demos, HT EP, HT, the Visionaries collab, this song, the DJ Vice track, and Reanimation. 2002 was literally his peak as a rapper.

One of things that I don't like about LP's music is that there's no interplay between vocals and instrumentals... like, when Chester sings during choruses, there's no instrumental break at all between his singing... he just sings during the whole chorus. you know what I mean?
