This song is basically System of A Down with Mike and Chester on vocals... even Mike tries to sing like Serj. I mean it's okay song, but I barely listen to it at all...
Song is hit or miss with me. It's a highlight on the album imo but I don't care to listen to it anymore. The subject matter is quite refreshing and the lyrics are pretty good.
Like a fucking metaphor... On topic: LOVE this song. Mostly because of two things; Lyrics and Rob fucking Bourdon.
An alright song, but it would have been so much better if the chorus fit. Should have been a more screamed approach, like the bridge, rather than the weird harmonized SOAD style thing they went with.
Honestly I feel the exact opposite, that the chorus fits perfectly (if a bit poppy), with the best harmonies and vocal interaction on the album, while I feel that vocals-wise, the bridge could have been a bit more interesting (a really minor complaint though, I really love the song).
Wow I'm surprised about the negative comments for this song. I feel like this song was almost universally loved when it dropped.
I dig how fucked up explosive the intro is. The rest of the song doesn't live up to that energetic promise though. The chorus is sorta... flat. Well, the harmonies are nice. I guess I simply wish the song had gone more to the agressive extreme.
There's nothing that I really find wrong with the song, I just personally have never been able to get into it. Maybe it's that the guitar work by Daron doesn't sound "right" to me when fit into the structure of a standard LP song. I would've preferred if he was featured on something like A Line In The Sand.
I think the majority of SOAD song are around 3 minutes, so don't act like they were a Progressive metal band or something.
The only problem with your statement is that he wasn't. He was simply saying that it didn't sound right with the way Linkin Park produces and structures the sound of their songs. So chill out.
