Gotta say, that does not surprise me.

I was .04 off from making the distinguished honor role. Just bringing up one of my four A- up to an A would've brought me up to the 3.75 requirement I needed. But no, my fucking electronic arts teacher had to fail my last project to bring me down to an A-.

 

I'm with echo on this one. The glamorization of a mass murder really concerns me and it will surely add to the stereotype that video games make people violent. That said, what's with the bottom comment? What about Gibs screams mass murderer lol?

Now that I've... er... acquired... heh-heh... The Walking Dead, I can get caught up. I haven't seen anything past, like, the fourth episode of season three because of how goddamn boring it became.

 

Mass murder is already glamorized . What irks me is the double standard being held in the video game industry. Had this game been a "good guy" killing "the bad people," it would have gotten an M rating, and there would have been no uproar. Yet when the tables are turned, it gets AO? That's bullshit. Killing is killing, no matter what kind of roses-tinted glasses one may want to look at it through.

The only real reason people play video games such as GTA is to mass kill NPCs to their heart's desire. It's refreshing to me to see a video game being so honest and straighfoward about what it's goal is.

I found the first half of season 3 to be fantastic, but my god, it really went downhill. Season 4 was a big step forward, but season 5 seems to have no clue what it wants to be. I'm pretty much done with the show at this point.

 

I was about to say I didn't remember much about season three, which is why I wasn't sure what episode I stopped at, but now that I think about it, I think it was a couple episodes into season four that I stopped watching, because I distinctly remember the Woodbury arc and thinking how goddamn horrible it was. I understand they can't stick directly to the source material because it'd be boring that way, but just like Game of Thrones, they seem to have no problem killing characters who are incredibly important in later storylines, which, for me, ruins the overall story. I think the best season was the first season, because it was tight and quick. Then once season two came around, they had six episodes worth of content and decided to stretch it out over twice as many episodes, which as far as I can tell, is exactly what they're still doing, owing to the fact that they haven't even gotten to Alexandria yet (as far as I know) and that everyone I talk to talks about how the episodes are 35-40 minutes of nothing and then a few minutes of action right at the end to pretty much force you to watch the next episode to see how it's resolved.

tl;dr I read the first ten volumes of the comics after I watched the first season so now I've got an indescribable urge to hate the show based on the fact that it doesn't match up to the comics or my expectations for how the show should've been written.

 

You do raise a good point, I would just hate to see more stigma attached to video games. As opposed to GTA, this game, where the hero is a genocidal maniac, clearly takes itself very seriously. I think it's gonna be really easy for outsiders to say that the creators, developers and players must believe in the message this game putting out. I don't know what the creator's intentions were, but they're going to be twisted awfully easily.

 

It would be really cool if Tool recorded a cover of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Their cover of Zeppelin's No Quarter is fucking boss.

 

Holy shit, I just woke up from the weirdest fucking dream. I'll give you the highlights. I bet someone down with a stick, Mel Gibson had his hand smashed in a door, Back in Black played, and we all lived in future trees.

What in the actual fuck.

 

In retrospect, I disliked season 3 the most aside from great episodes like "Clear" because it was not only consistently bad, but it also ruined many great storylines & characters. Season 2 was boring, but season 3 was plain insulting. Season 4 was inconsistent (episode 3 was the worst ep of the season, imo, which was ironically written by Robert Kirkman) but most of the story was genuinely good & gripping while the characters became less stupid.

Season 5 started out great, but the Beth storyline slowly spiralled it back to season 2 territory. Beth is ironically the best part of the storyline, which had lots of potential but failed to capitalize it.

 

Oh, no doubt. Clear is by far one of the best episodes of the series.

I have to severly disagree. I've never given a flying fuck about Beth. This far into the series, making any annoying character likeable know is just a lost cause. Beth's death did nothing but show how lazy the writing on the show has become.

I can't stand how we're getting this bitter cold weather, but when a snow storm passes by it warms up just enough so that we only get a couple inches of snow or just rain. This winter sucks.
