"Breaking The Habit" might not have been as heavy as most of the band's other singles at that time but I think that the aggression that LP were known for was still very much there in that song

"Shadow", in contrast, is really mellow, :) although the lyrics and themes are perhaps dark and somewhat heavy

The ballade Medley is one of the softest part of the show, but i like how Shadow Of The Day transist there into Iridescent. The drums of Iridescent with Shadow of the Day <3

Shadow of the Day is just damn beautiful. Definitely one of my favourite LP ballads, the slow build up of electronic instruments into live instrumentation and strings is just wonderful. The lyrics are relatable with many interpretations, Chester's performance is just damn pretty... The whole thing comes together as one very well put together and solid song.

The very first song I heard by Linkin Park that I knew as Linkin Park. I thought they were a younger band originally lol. I love the song. My favorite performance of this song was Roads to Revolution. That performance just seemed so surreal and beautiful and I wasn't even there lol. A great song overall.

I never read the information you give us about the songs :ditto:
Anyway, Shadow Of The Day is really good towards the end. It's a sad song, and I love how it has an interlude at the end of it to go into What I've Done.

That's great, you shouldn't read it. But you should be mad when someone corrects you. Great job, dude, keep going.

Shadow Of The Day is the most elegant song in Linkin Park's discography. Starting off simple and somber, the track continuously builds momentum with increasingly optimistic layers of beauty. When the first guitar solo enters the fray, it completely transitions from a dark ballad into a glorious anthem. Chester's performance is iconic and masterful, displaying emotion beyond his range of angst-ridden screams. At nearly five minutes in length, the track also represents the band's first real foray into substantial musicianship.

It may not take the crown as Linkin Park's greatest ballad, but Shadow Of The Day paved the way for future masterpieces like Iridescent and Powerless to follow. For that reason, the song is an extremely significant moment in Minutes To Midnight and the band's sonic paradigm shift.

I used to like a lot this song! But now I barely hear it. It's a very classic Linkin Park song with the nu-metal sound and the typical structure, so maybe that's why. Still a cool song

Shadow of the Day just screams early-2000 nu-metal angst! Listen to that rapping, that shouting, that catchy guitar riff! :kappa:

Wow people really love this song.
Not my favorite LP ballad but I still enjoy it once in a while. Reminds me a lot of U2 honestly.

Lots of girls love this song actually. Some actually find solace in this song during breakups.

Shadow is a beautiful ballad and it fits very well in the medley. The interlude to What I've Done is interesting, and hearing it again now makes me wish they had done instrumental interludes like that on THP rather than baby cries and kids shouting.

Also, there is a director's cut of the music video that has Chester getting shot at the end of it. There are parts of the video that suggest him making bombs in his house before he leaves.
And he wakes up at 11:55, while in 2007 the atomic clock was set to 5 minutes to midnight.

Yeah, I gave these various cuts a broad mention. I wonder which of them was Hahn's actual vision when writing up the video
