The MTVU Fandom Awards is a new awards show which holds its first ever event at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24th, and as a celebration of the new event Linkin Park will be playing. This makes it the 5th total performance for Linkin Park in San Diego, the previous times being in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2011 and the last time was in support of A Thousand Suns. Last time we caught up with a Linkin Park show was the surprise performance at the Vans Varped Tour stop in Ventura, CA. That show consisted of a 7 song set with guests on ALL the songs, something that has never been seen at a Linkin Park show before. At the Ventura show, New Divide was played in full for the first time so far on this concert run. Check out a video of it below, featuring David Schmitt. Linkin Park will most likely play a full headliner set for this show. Then on the 27th a one hour special will be aired on MTV at 8/7c, showcasing moments from the ceremony, so we will most likely not be getting a recording of the full show at that date. We do know that there is a possibility for new songs from The Hunting Party being played thanks to Mike Shinoda posting on Instagram that they are adding two new songs. With Final Masquerade being the next single and the fact that we have a rehearsal video, there is a STRONG possibility of that being one of the new songs. According to LinkinPark.com, Rebellion is another single so that could mean it would be the other new song to be played. Immediately after this set, Joe Hahn and The Nerd Machine will hold a special screening of The Mall at Nerd HQ, more info about that can be found here. After this the band holds a rehearsal show in West Palm Beach, Florida on August 6th before kicking off their Carnivores Tour with AFI and 30 Seconds To Mars on August 8th in West Palm Beach, Florida. What do you think LP will do at this show? Will they play those two new songs? Will they pull out any other surprises? Are you going to this show? Come and discuss in our forums.
i think the setlist is 1. catalyst/requeim 2. GATS 3. Wastelands 4. UIG 5. Faint 6. One step closer not positive tho
Technically, I'd call Rebellion a promotional single like Wastelands. Powerless was a promotional single with a single cover and everything and it still didn't get played even though the band stated many times that they would. So, I don't know if they would play Rebellion. My bet is for Keys to The Kingdom or A Line In The Sand.
Yeah I'd lean more towards ALITS. it could be mashed up with another song. I hope rebellion gets played, but not horribly crashed by Brad.
I think it would be a good idea to drop the FM video right before the show if there going to debut it.
It starts at 7 p.m. PDT. Source: http://www.nerdcoremovement.com/complete-guide-san-diego-comic-con-2014/
So, let's do this. Date: July 24, 2014 Location: San Diego, California, United States Venue: Petco Park Venue Type: Stadium Venue Website: http://www.petcoparkevents.com/ Event: mtvU Fandom Awards @ Comic-Con Show #: 1 of 1 Other Bands: G-Eazy SETLIST: 1. Guilty All The Same (Rehearsal) ---------------------------------------------------- 1. Given Up (Ext. Outro w/ Extra Note) 2. Points Of Authority (Short Intro) 3. The Catalyst / The Requiem (Mashup Intro) 4. Guilty All The Same 5. Wastelands 6. Until It's Gone 7. Faint (Ext. Outro) 8. One Step Closer (Ext. Outro) Show Notes: - On June 5th, the band announced, "Linkin Park will be headlining the first ever mtvU Fandom Awards and the corresponding MTV Fan Fest which will both be taking place at Comic-Con International: San Diego at Petco Park on July 24th. Free admission to MTV Fan Fest will be open to all Comic-Con badge holders." - The band soundchecked 'Guilty All The Same' earlier in the day. Other Notes: - Tyler Oakley, a popular Youtuber, interviewed the band onstage before they performed. - The waiting line was atrocious before the show. Almost an hour after the show was scheduled to start (7:00), there were still fans waiting in line to enter the venue.
Rebellion isn't a hard song to play on guitar...if Brad fucks that up that he's worse than a intermediate guitarist. My bet is FM and War. Since FM is getting it's own music video it's almost a no brainer, and War would have the smallest impact on the setlist timewise. So they could play it mashed up with another song similarly to Victimized/QWERTY on the last tour cycle.
Chloe Moretz introduced LP :> http://instagram.com/p/q3lno_jndP/ What the hell is Given Up and One Step Closer doing in the setlist.
In all the instagram videos, it said rehearsing for the Carnivores tour , Mike said getting samples ready for the carnivores tour, were adding 2 more songs. That show was not part of the Carnivores tour.
In the post I made sure to point out There was never any promise from the band that there would be live debuts at this show.
LP fans are funny, assuming things out of mere speculation. Don't ever change, guys, don't ever change.
