Well, UIG did show up in the Transformers Rise of the Dark Spark trailer.

And to think about it, UIG's lyrics kinda fit in with Transformers 4.

I literally came into this thread to say that. I just came back from the movie and the lyrics go along with the whole "It's about your kids growing up and letting them be themselves" and combined with reading here about how the song may have been written specifically for the movie and everything makes sense.

That said that Imagine Dragons sing they used was still better. For the movie and as an actual song. And I normally can't stand ID.

can vouch for this. Until It's Gone, Drawbar and Final Masquerade is the best tracks on the album and they have no screaming in them, go figure. A Line In The Sand's opening by Mike is amazing, though.

ID's soundtrack songs are somewhat superior to their famous hits (and possibly even their album), so it's no surprise why Battle Cry is much more appealing to me.

Hopefully the new album they're working on pushes them in the dark direction they're going with in their soundtrack songs.

I have to say, I heard Battle Cry and I like it more then UIG. It's so dark, where as in comparison, UIG sounds super generic and cookie cutter, which it is to some degree. Battle Cry was a bold choice, though, and I'm sorta surprised it was chosen over UIG.

    1. Wastelands (live video to sell tickets for the Carnivores tour)
    2. Final Masquerade (actors. )
    3. Rebellion (artsy/riot video, have Daron Malakian, STP, Tom Morello, Rakim, and whoever you can think of pop up in the video)

    All 3 get videos.

GATS as a promotional single to lead off the album was fine.

That's all. And don't label the album as viceral and shit on other bands. Just say it's a rock record with guitars/drums. Less talk more rock. Ironically Chester said that about STP when he joined them. Should have taken that approach with this album. It was a cocky promotion and the album fell flat. It's mediocre at best with no originality. It's the worst case of "hybrid theory". Punk, death metal, pop, rap, etc DO NOT WORK. No cohesion.

I blame this album on the lack of a producer and Mike Shinoda's arrogance. It's a dictatorship at LP. It's his band obviously, but I know the guys didn't equally get a say on the album.

LP needs another A Thousand Suns record, otherwise i'm over this band they sold out a long time ago and it shows.

People keep saying how arrogant and "wigger like" Mike's been this cycle, and besides his "radio rock sucks" essay I'm really not seeing it. He wanted a throwback to older, more agressive rock music and he did it, how is that arrogant or dickish?

I sort of agree. I think the reason people may be getting angry is because he's pushing that idea pretty hard on people, and he seems to be trying to reinvent Linkin Park into a "badass hard rokk band." But I do think iot's being blow out of proportion, and I really like the Hunting Party.

Not everyone thinks deeply about what they say. They just let the butthurt flow.

Guys guys, come on. This is how you release singles for an album:

    First Single - REBELLION
    Released: Mid March 2014
Release Notes: Released Worldwide digitally following a series of intense puzzles and games including "Bejewled: Linkin Park Edition" and the "Mikey Shinoda Rebellion Showdown." Released physically and sent to radio stations on the Tuesday of the week after.
    Track listing
    1. Rebellion
    2. What I've Done (Live From Mexico)
    3. In The End (Live From Mexico)
    4. A Light That Never Comes (Paul Van Dyk Remix)

    Second Single - Final Masquerade
    Released: Early May 2014
Release Notes: To promote the song and the album, Linkin Park rent out a ballroom in Manhattan and organize a masquerade where they debut the song (the performance gets broadcasted around the world on MTV and it's sister networks). At the end, the ballroom is set on fire since it's the final fucking masquerade - there can be no more. I believe for poetic justice, the band should perform BURN IT DOWN as this is happening.
    Track listing
    1. Final Masquerade
    2. Rebellion (Live from A Burned Down Ballroom)
    3. BURN IT DOWN (Live from A Burned Down Ballroom)

I found that funnier then I should have. At the same time, I want the promotion for the Final Masquerade single to happen.
