Ok guys. I like Aaron Lewis and Staind. I also personally enjoy his country music that he has ventured into over the years. Anyways, Staind was playing at Rockfest 2014, and people got a little handsy on a girl that was crowd surfing and this happened: I love that he actually did something to stop it. I really wish more acts were like that at festivals and concerts. I'm tired of bands that encourage that kind of stuff. Anyways, what are your thoughts about this kind of stuff happening? Would y'all react like Aaron?
Props to Aaron Lewis. What an awesome dude. That gave me tons of respect for the guy. I haven't listened to Staind in forever. It's Been Awhile
That was a great way to respond. I especially like the fact that he encouraged the girls to keep crowdsurfing. Some people might be inclined to say something like "if you don't want to be grabbed, don't crowdsurf." Which is utter bullshit. It's not up to a person not to "tempt" people, it's up to everyone else to act like fucking decent human beings and not take advantage of someone in a vulnerable position who's just trying to enjoy themselves.
This. Some of the comments on the actual video sicken me, shit like "Attention whores. If you don't want to be raped, then don't fucking surf half naked with your tits hanging out," or "how about don't crowd surf half naked if you don't want to get touched inappropriately." This shit just baffles me. She shouldn't have to worry or "deserve" crap like that, PEOPLE SHOULD'T HAVE BEEN FEELING HER UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Right after he does this, at 1:44 is a chick with her tits out, and I mean full-blown nipples and everything. Maybe that girl didn't deserve it, but some really are just asking for it.
Again, it's not up to a person not to "tempt" people, it's up to everyone else to act like decent human beings and not take advantage of someone who is literally putting their physical well-being in your control. A person is only "asking for it" if they actually look at someone and say, "hey, I know this might be a bit forward of me, but would it be okay if you squeezed one or both of my tits?"
I agree a 15-year-old girl should be able to crowd surf at a concert without being molested - it's a concert "thing". I do not agree that were that 1:44 chick to do the same thing and then have her get pissed or bothered is okay, however. Unless you've got a baby on your nipple or a porno/photo shoot director having you pose, you take your tits out like that when you want some.
Thats a joke right? That is quite possibly the most ignorant thing you could ever say. No girl is ever "asking for it." Just because a few guys can't keep their shit togther doesn't mean a girl is fucking asking for it.
He's not talking about the 15 year old, obviously. The girl with her fucking tits out on show was absolutely asking for it. If you don't want to "tempt" anyone, keeping your shirt on might be the best bet. That's all he was saying. He isn't justifying why the 15 year old was molested or molestation in general.
It doesn't matter if she is flashing the band. That doesn't mean she's "asking for it." That phrase by itself is like a justification for rape. "Well it's a shame she got raped but she was kind of asking for when she flashed her boobs at that Stained show."
By that logic, if I whip out my dick in public, I have every right to be raped, because. hey, "it's exposed!' I might not have the intention of having sex, but some people have no self control, so rather than punishing or looking down upon them, we criminalize the one who exposed these things, because obviously, that's the real problem! (stupid fucking logic)
It's not about trying to justify molesting or even raping someone. You don't have the "right" to be raped if you pull your dick out. The argument is saying "Well, why did you do this if you knew this would happen?" It's not justifying anyone getting raped but just spreading the blame to more than one person. I understand and I do agree with what you're both saying, and I also get how black and white the argument seems.
Yes, things like tits and dicks shouldn't probably shouldn't be exposed, but that's not the that should be criminalized, which is what a lot of people seem to do.
This is exactly my mindset. It's not a justification at all, but understanding how the world works in terms of criminal molestation and sexual assault, what part of your experience involves showing off your tits or dick thinking NO ONE will take note? No one DESERVES to be raped/molested, but you can do your part and not whip out your dick in front of 100 cougars if you don't want them passing you herpes.
