I guess the difference between Muse/Korn and Imagine Dragons is that they've released quite a few complete rock albums before going to experiment with the electronic genre. In fact, Muse only went overboard with The 2nd Law. The Resistance, while it had a few electronic elements in it, was primarily a solid rock album. Muse also stated that they would go back to their rock sound in the next album which has gotten me excited.
Imagine Dragons on the other hand released a debut album that isn't completely rock. It's the poppier side of rock with its fair share of electronic music in it. I guess these days you could classify such acts as Alternative Rock.
I'm really looking forward to their next album though.

I laughed when she won for best rock song. Her track is an edgier pop song at best.

Why you so mad though? I'm just speculating.

And like I said in my other posts, neither Coldplay or One Republic announced they were doing it. Same thing could be here.

Yeah Chester better shut up in the next interview too while Mike is telling us how he feels that there's a void in rock music and how he threw away all the old demos.

"I've heard it said a thousand times. But now I know"

Nah, Paradigm Shift had heavy electronic elements too. They don't do outright "dubstep" anymore, but they've implemented enough of it into their catalog now.

Right now I don't consider them rock since they had a lot of alternative pop songs on Night Visions. Although, the new singles they have been releasing have a rock feel to them (which I think is the direction they're headed for their next album).

Saying Imagine Dragons isn't Rock is like saying Coldplay isn't Rock. Both are very much Rock music.

If Imagine Dragons are the best we got, then Rock has a problem.

And I don't consider Coldplay rock, either, especially after Ghost Stories.

And, here, you see how dividing acts by the genre of their music doesn't always work. Coldplay have made both rock music and music that decidedly isn't rock.

When did I ever say there were the best of the genre? Just because I acknowledge that they are rock, doesn't mean that they're the best representation of rock music.

Albums such as A Rush of Blood to the Head, and Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends are very much Rock albums. Stylistically, both albums resemble styles of Rock that The Beatles wrote towards the end of the career, namely Abbey Road, The White Album, and especially Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, all considered among some of the finest achievements of Rock music. Saying Coldplay isn't Rock music is just ludicrous. Just because a band isn't blasting a loud guitar riff down your throat, in the vein of Van Halen or Aerosmith, doesn't make them not Rock.

Don't get me wrong, imagine dragons is great, but it's just the fact that everybody plays it 24/7 and says it's new music.

I see Viva La Vida / Death And All His Friends as being rock, but that's really it. Plus I don't really listen to A Rush Of Blood To The Head that much anyways, so I can't really judge whether that's rock or not.

You should give A Rush of Blood to the Head another shot.

Never imagined that you did say that.
I was referring to the fact that they've won numerous best rock album/best rock band awards.

Eh, doesn't really matter. Awards shows are ridiculous now anyways. Example: Lorde won Best Rock Performance at the Billboard Music Awards.
