While I'm new here, I used to read these forums much, mostly because I like watching Linkin Park's youtube channel and there is always really mean shitty comments (Linkin park fandom: where haters are mostly old fans) and these kind of forums are nicer (how is this forum not flooded with old Lp comments? How?). What bugs me is these comments usually get more upvotes than nice comments sometimes. And I'm posting here because one of the comments really ticked me off. This one guy talked about how Linkin Park sold out to the mainstream, really? Here's my thing. Granted, I like all Linkin Park albums. But, Is Hybrid theory, an album with songs that a lot of teenagers relate to, more mainstream or ATS, a concept album based on World war more mainstream? It sort of is like reverse selling out, honestly. Also the whole more radio friendly thing: Sure songs like Leave out all the rest and iridescent are guilty but Given up? Bleed it out? Waiting for the end? Also again, Given up! Do these people know what they are talking about? It probably sucks for the band that everything they make is always compared to the first things they made when they were starting out. Why does this happen only on youtube? Am I wrong? I don't know. Sorry, if I ticked anyone off. I just wish I could get all of them to shut up.
Becoming a fan doesn't mean liking the first 2 records from the band but try to appreciate and understand things that they love to make (but not all the time) since we have our own different tastes, different opinions towards their music and throughout every album cycle. Here in LPA, we share our own points of view about the band's albums, side projects, etc. and especially right now, everybody are looking forward to the new anticipated record of the band (The Hunting Party). So with regards to youtube, Just ignore those shitty comments, it will just hurt your feelings. Welcome to LPA.
Waiting For The End is radio friendly(and one of the best songs they've ever made). Welcome to LPA, where ATS is the holy grail.
Don't forget this is the place where Meteora is a terrible album and you should be ashamed if you like it.
