Not feeling the piano at all. It's just so...uninspired. Not feeling the entire song actually. I actually think its too reminiscent of Mylo Xyloto, which was a really mediocre album IMO. Midnight was decent at best, Magic was really good, this song is pretty bad...hmmmm, not feeling to optimistic about this album

Magic and Midnight are far superior to A Sky Full of Stars. However, I could see it maybe being better once we get the context of the rest of the album. But I'm hoping the EDM influences in this song doesn't make its way onto other tracks on Ghost Stories.
I totally agree. After this bleak, minimal, emotional album, ending on a triumphant note will probably feel like a big payoff.
This album is apparently going to end the same way as Mylo Xyloto. A soft song, then an explosion of color and then a tearjerker finale. This time it's "Oceans", followed by "A Sky Full of Stars" and finally "O", instead of "Up in Flames", "Don't Let it Break Your Heart" and "Up with the Birds". Also note how "O" talks about birds too! Probably this is their new found strategy of ending albums nowadays!
Here's the current list of lyrics sheets, for those who haven't seen them yet (I didn't include Magic, since everyone should know that one by now).
This song translate so well live:
I wish it would just hurry up and leak already. I'm still going to buy it regardless of how early it leaks anyways. I just want to listen to O in whole, as well as True Love and Ink which from what I heard are pretty good.
It seems like they always write so much music for each album cycle, such as Ghost Stories. In the BBC Radio 1 interview, Chris Martin stated that there was a ton of music written, but not a lot of it made the album. It would be so cool if they released a companion CD later on for Ghost Stories, similar to Prospekt's March, or release a huge compilation album full of previously unreleased material from each album, and some lesser known b-sides. That would make me so happy!
I saw a tweet saying there will be a sort of a Prospekt's March in about half a year. Didn't go much into it.
I heard that they might be releasing another album in 2015, but nothing about a Porspekt's March-esque release. I really hope this is true. I can tell I'm going to LOVE Ghost Stories. That snippet for the studio version of Oceans was excellent. Also hoping for another Jon Hopkins produced track on said release. This all sounds very similar to Radiohead's release of Kid A and Amnesiac, both recorded at the same time, but two different albums released in a short amount of time.
